Descendants of slaves deserve nothing that everybody else doesn’t already have.

Pretty much the majority of employees of the Alabama public education system are full of beneficiaries of more or less what you're talking about.

Doesn't seem to be working out too well.

I support these people leaving the country if they don’t like what they get. They would beg to come back, I can assure you.

I thought this was going to be for white people to undo all the the "You should hate yourself" nonsense of the last 50 years.

They already do. It is called a Pell grant. About $6k per semester. Not a student loan.

This is the truth, rename it, maybe throw in an extra 350 a semester for the BTW educational reparation portion & call it good.

got drunk. After a semester they lost the money due to straight 'F's.

Accountability, you don’t use it to your advantage to get out of the funk, the evidence can be thrown back into the naysayers faces.
Hmm (sir/ma’am) our records show you were awarded the BTW grant & our records also show that you lost the funding due to YOUR subpar GPA. If you would like to re-apply you could be eligible after 2 consecutive semesters with an expectable GPA. You will have to pay out of pocket for those semesters of course.
Don’t turn down the opportunity, but set a precedent on expectations.

Again, OMB and conservatives are evil racists. Facts and statistics don’t matter and there’s no point in arguing reason to an unreasonable person.

What if as a “reparation” for slavery, we gave descendants of slaves access to the greatest country on the planet with every opportunity to succeed and build a life better than any other country would offer...and in addition to that, we even give them preferred status in accessing all these opportunities?

How’s that sound?

How would this work? I mean the only true version of systemic racism currently being Implemented in the USA is Affirmative Action. Plus why should $1 of my tax payers money go towards any type of reparations if half my family tree fought for the Union while the other half wasn’t even in America when slavery was legal?

618,000 dead in the civil war, the reconstruction era, the welfare system, and specialty minority hiring practices and tax breaks and scholarships isn’t enough?

for education reparations for descendants of slaves

How are you going to prove you were a descendent of a slave? Black skin? What about Irish and Chinese and Italian, etc....?

quote:

Not to mention how poor the current black community is doing with education

You’re under the impression that’s due to lack of education funding? do I need to post the graphic overlay of most federal and state education funds, poverty, and test scores?

education reparations for descendants of slaves (free college)
So, hard working white people with high gpas and ACT scores should get stuck with 6 figures in student loan debt?

Why? Not one living person or their grandparents owned slaves. We already do. What do you think taxes/EITC, food stamps, WIC, free daycare/pre-k-12, free healthcare, hud housing, and mixed income housing is?

They already get free tuition/affirmative action/pell grants/black colleges based on race. Not to mention free daycare/head start/pre-k 12.

How about earning it based on merit like the rest of us? I graduated public school valedictorian and earned a free ride to a Catholic university where I graduated with honors.

They already get free college by and large. Has it helped?
