Why should it cost me anything? I was never a slave holder and nobody alive was ever a slave. Tell me how this makes sense in your head.

I've never heard of boil down to public education before. I'm assuming your kids were privately educated their entire lives?

Trump is offering this.

It's called 'school choice'.

I think the country should pay a debt for the wrong that was slavery,

A Civil War isn't enough for you? It's almost like the Almighty took a whip to our country and flailed both sides nearly to death to get the point across. Slavery was burned up in the crucible of war and abolished.

Unfortunately Democrats couldn't live with it and since than have invested considerable energy and time in achieving and maintaining power by exploiting the reservoir of bitterness left behind.

First by messages of outright white supremacy and black inferiority complete with violence and suppression of blacks.

When that ran its course Democrats finally adopted a fake paternalism towards blacks blaming Republicans for years of racist violence and Jim Crow and promising everything for the coveted black vote.

Democrats have delivered nothing for blacks except a plantation system as bad as Slavery. Worse in fact because for black votes Democrats have confined many blacks to crime infested inner city hellholes, provided schools that don't teach, destroyed black families, robbed black men of their responsibilities as men by putting black women on the welfare dole paying them for each illegitimate child making both mother and child dependent on the government instead of a husband and father.

And let's not forget the disproportionate numbers of black babies gobbled up by the Democrats' sacred and sacrosanct abortion mills each year.

It'd take a long book to list the crimes and atrocities inflicted on blacks by Democrats in order to create and maintain a reliable voting bloc. When Democrats own up to all of this and prostrate themselves begging forgiveness of blacks, America, and the Republicans they've falsely blamed for the plight of black Americans maybe that will payback the debt of Slavery and the Republic can begin to heal.

and it would honor Booker T Washington and other leaders who put an emphasis on education to prosper. Not to mention how poor the current black community is doing with education, this could be a big help.

See: Vouchers. School choice. Something vigorously opposed by Democrats and Teachers' Unions.

By the way while we're honoring black leaders: Frederick Douglass thought the best policy for whites to employ respecting newly freed slaves was to leave them alone. Let them work. Let them marry and have families. Let them go to school. The white man's interference in the lives of blacks was usually detrimental in Douglass's opinion.
