You are focused on the wrong thing worrying about if the death estimate is 10-25% overinflated.

Both seem like things to be frustrated over

Hardly anyone in NOLA has died of this in months. They are just making up whatever excuse they want at this point. If fewer people died they would still just claim it is as deadly on March/April numbers.

No, I am not

Because, I know that if they are counting any death with a lab result as a covid death, they are counting any person in the hospital with a covid result as a covid hospitalization

And that is the biggest issue here

I’m not sure if this answers your question or not.

The situation described by nurse would count as a pneumonia or flu death in any year so it should certainly count as a covid death.

Token was shot in school by policemen acting as teachers because the teachers didn't want to teach because of covid.

if there were no covid, policemen would not be teaching and token would not have been shot.

therefore token was in the hospital due to covid.

6%. That’s the ones with no comorbidities and no other Cause of death

See that one I have a hard time believing. Maybe laziness or incorrect documentation on the death certificate??

No one dies of JUST COVID alone. It causes you to go septic or into cardiac arrest or respiratory failure, or other organ system failures or whatever.

So you would have other causes of death on your death certificate

And if you died of a GSW and also had COVID....GSW is also on your death certificate

You can live to be a ripe old age with HBP or asthma or whatever if you are taking proper medication. These people would NOT have died if not for covid.

Conversely I know older people with those issues and worse that got COVID and lived. You can't say for certain that COVID is the cause simply by its presence.

Bottom line is that JBE has lied to all of us Louisianians by using knowingly false information to justify his tyrannical shut down orders. He should step down

At the very least, louisiana should be wide open and should have been opened up months ago.

Any continued restrictions are complete BS. It cannot be argued.

I don't know if the better way is to try and go back to adjust numbers from April or to keep the method used now. Will probably take years for the revision of numbers, if they ever do it.

Louisiana isn't special in determining the mortality rate so their numbers aren't exactly important. They matter, but the mortality estimates look at a lot broader than what is being reported to the public. That is why the CDC doesn't match the La numbers when it comes to rates.

Another thing I’m curious to see the results on are deaths compared to the normal deaths per week.

LINK

I’m curious if the number continues to decline like it has recently.

Well a lot of that is for allocation of PPE supplies.

A person with a broken leg with COVID still requires more supplies (PPE, housing on separate COVID units, etc) than a person with a broken leg without COVID.

I do COVID numbers daily. We are instructed by the federal government to give them a daily count of all hospitalized patients with confirmed COVID and also a total of all confirmed and suspected COVID (meaning they have COViD symptoms but tests still pending). Not all the patients hospitalized because they have COVID. Those federal numbers are also sent to state level.

You also have to factor in other causes of death that have increased too. Suicides, murders, OD's, etc when doing these week by week comparisons.

To deny covid itself caused a massive spike in deaths is burying your head in the sand.

So if someone with a pre-existing condition of only asthma gets COVID. And they end up in the ICU and ultimately die....you don’t think that should count as a COVID death?

My biggest issue with this is are we testing every person who died for Corona? What's the false positive rate on these tests? When we have 10 deaths a day in Louisiana how many of those are false positive Corona tests.

Never sad it didn’t. I’m just curious how the average death per week trends over the next 6 months.
