Shaya still worth it?

I have never been, made a reservation in a couple weeks for an anniversary dinner.

I went for lunch. Luckily I wasn’t paying but man I forget how expensive it gets with the $15+ hummus selection.
It is damn good though - just a very filling meal if you cant put the pita down.

I don't think it's all that bad but the wife and I generally share a lot the small plates and maybe one big plate.
I have not been to Shaya in a while but I imagine it has probably held close to the standard when Alon was there. Saba is always an option if you want to be doubly sure of the kitchen's capabilities.
My only complaint is that they can be stingy with the pita

It's fantastic, and I actually prefer it over Saba. Judging by how packed the place always is I suspect others do, too.

Same here. I want to like Saba more but if I am true to myself, it just isn't better.

Yes, Shaya is still worth it.
Also, as far as Saba, I think they're running a limited prix fixe menu from CV-19.

One of my last meals before the shutdown was at Shaka and it was still great. Had a scallop in brown butter special that was fantastic

Absolutely. I eat only small plates and hummus dishes every time I’ve gone. The lamb hummus my fav

Yep
Went last week and options are $50 or $70 a head. A lot of food though and well worth it.

Date salsa verde on the fried chicken hummus is one of my favorite things ever. The chicken schnitzel sandwich with the zaatar fries on the lunch menu is very solid as well. The pita is still great.
So yes is the short answer.

I get this but I still would rather spend the money towards the owner who came up with the concept.

It’s good, but prefer the ambiance of Saba. Their bar is one of my favorite restaurant bars
