Is the general consensus that it was a tie?

See a lot of hate on Trump’s performance here, but on other sites it seems that people are just talking about how bad the moderation was or that both candidates are pretty bad. Nobody really saying that Biden killed it.

Every poll I've seen about debate performance shows Trump as winning the debate.

Tie goes to the incumbent IMHO.
If a challenger can’t prove they should be in the big job, a tie doesn’t help them.

I personally think they cancelled each other out.

Not if we are to believe the media narrative that Biden has a comfortable lead at the moment.

The hate on Trump primarily revolves around how people think other people felt about it.
Or they think he should have addressed white supremacy differently... even though Wallace is who labeled proud boys white supremacists (many arent even white).
Otherwise, everyone who doesn’t actually follow politics is somehow still surprised that American presidential debates aren’t jam packed with policy debate and facts. Simply put... thats not a thing and hasn’t been for a long long time. The format itself does not lend well to any meaningful policy discussion. And 75+ percent of the american people can’t understand the details anyway.

Look at the polling for most races in the last 40-50 years.
The Dem typically starts out with a huge lead and, in many cases, ends up not only losing but losing badly.
1988 is probably the most telling with Dukakis having about a 55-38 lead on Bush 41 then getting trounced on election night. Dukakis was never up by that much but pollsters attempted to create that image.

No, even the media was scared by what they physically saw from Joe last night. You could tell by the push to cancel further debates.

No tie. America lost

Every post debate commentary states Trump won. Even CNN, which is shocking.

I think the consensus is that it was an overall shite show, Wallace was biased, Trump is a man with balls and Biden is old and way past it.

I don't remember which poll, but one pundit said it was 1/3 Trump, 1/3 Biden and 1/3 neither.
Probably pretty accurate.

Biden not being able to list a law enforcement endorsement was the biggest blow landed in the debate. Any fair-minded person has to say Trump won based on the sheer force of that shot alone.

"General consensus"? Can you give me an example of a consensus that is NOT general?
This is like calling someone your cousin relative, or your father relative. "Relative", like "general" in "general consensus" is a useless redundancy.
