If Brennan melts under the pressure who do you go to? Johnson or Finley

Johnson's footwork is just so polished already. Finley has a massive frame.
Both seem to be more mobile than Brennan

To add on to your statement but not answer the question, I didn't realize that Brennan couldn't move. He looked like he was running in sand and DL'men were on treadmills

Usually with a backup freshman QB, you go with the guy that is the most athletic/mobile and that is 100% Johnson.
They give you more of a chance.

Finley. He's a very smart player and can make up for shortcomings on the OL.

You act like Brennan was the reason we lost the game. Why dont you stand behind the QB and stop calling for his head and give the kid a chance.

His biggest issue that made his mobility look bad was how often he scrambled out of the pocket to the outside, rather than stepping up and running forward.
If he could just learn to step up in the pocket and flee forward rather than the sides then his mobility wouldn't look so poor.

Finley might not have the raw physical tools that Johnson does, but he clearly is light years ahead in being able to break down and understand defenses - the intangible stuff. So, in a pinch, I'd rather go with Finley.
That said, if Johnson can ever grasp the mental side of the game, look out.

This is an un-emotional, fact-based response not intended to pot-stir....it's quite possible that because Brennan is a first-time starter in his 3rd year, that maybe he's simply not the level of QB we need to play championship-caliber football.
I don't blame him for the loss but he certainly played a role in it. If he doesn't progress in coming weeks, we'll know what's up.

Ahh we have reached that point
. 2nd stringer is better than the starter.

whether you want to admit it or not, he was a large reason we lost the game. Obviously the defense has to fix some issues, but we had to punt 7 times on Saturday against a defense that had multiple walk ons starting.
Brennan held the ball for far too long, missed open guys, didn't see the open guys, scrambled too much, and didn't set his feet a lot....
To add to that, I never said he should lose his job at this point. I recognize it was a first start. But it left a lot to be desired. He played a MSU team that will likely have at least 4 losses. He's in his 4th year. The only thing I could think when Danielson kept saying it isn't often a 4 star waits 4 years was, that he must not be some amazing specimen, because if he was teams would have been chasing him behind closed doors.
I'll give him the next 2 games to show improvements but when we have to go to Florida in a few weeks, it's going to be rough and at that point it will be time to make a decision on if he is our guy or if he needs to sit.

Call Brady and ask who looks better in his eyes. ![](https://images.tigerdroppings.com/Images/Icons/Iconwah.gif)

What if the coaching staff lost their collective minds and followed the advice you numbnuts are spouting.
And then Finley wasn't the next coming of Heisman Joe, how soon would you soon would you braying jackasses shite on him?
Jesus you people are fricking despicable.

Honestly, I have no idea where you all are getting your information on Max and Finley. How do we know that Max can't read defenses yet and that Finley can? I've only seen their high school film, and the edited clips from practices.
Max ran a much more complicated offense in high school, is the son of a former NFL QB, and can run. The only way that I would lean towards Finley right now was if alot of chatter came out of camp about him competing for the job (and that didn't happen).
Brennan is still the guy, and I think he'll prove that. We're obviously not going undefeated, and we'll have to work to get to 7-3. We lost 3 games in Burrow's first year. Brennan just needs to gain confidence - confidence will come with reps. He's been here for awhile but he hasn't had reps as the main guy, with the world on his shoulders, until now. He just has to trust himself and his guys.

Max 100%
I thought Max could’ve had a chance to start as a freshman.

I agree with all this. Not pressing the panic button on MB yet, but we definitely need to see some improvement the next 2-3 games. If he doesn’t look more comfortable and decisive against Vandy and Mizzou, then we officially have a problem on our hands.
That said, I do believe we will see improvement from him and he will get more settled through the next couple games. At that point, we’ll have to see how he looks at Florida when the real “pressure” is back on.

Whoever has been getting the most 2nd string snaps or significant snaps with scout team and gives you confidence.
Frankly, the issue is that the problems Myles has can’t be fixed. Someone should be ready to go for the Vandy game when/if Myles continues to take sacks, make errant throws, and just look awful.
ETA: just so y’all know, that Finley
