Lol I’m not saying that at all. I’m just saying aranda’s D had flaws in it to and was far from perfect. Especially when it came to great offensive minded coaches such as Dan Mullen.

Aranda hate here is some of the most wild stuff I've ever seen
it’s hilarious. He shut down Clemson and Oklahoma and was instrumental in winning a national championship but he sucked It has to be because either les hired him or because people talked about him being head coach. That’s the only reasons I can come up with for his hatred. Even that’s stupid

Then bringing up one game where the offense did diddly poo is kinda silly.

If we're cherry picking 2017 games, cane we look at what he did against Bama?

Man is fine. Press coverage is the issue. You can run man without press coverage.

I agree

Think what’s getting lost in the conversation, you can Run MAN with CBs, back off on the Press coverage...run a middle zone with LBs.

The LBs were either in MAN or blitzing, so if the CBs missed the jam, they were burned and had no chance over the middle.

I can remember fans saying same thing about Aranda, no adjustments etc and he was paid immensely also.

That was Aranda's calling card. Give it up in the first half and then put the clamps on after halftime. Pelini just kept playing man coverage and blitzing no matter what. Apparently he missed the part where our secondary couldn't cover a small child running a go route.

A transfer QB who has plenty game experience and is coached by arguably the best offensive mind in the game. Think about what you’re saying. I was pissed off for Bo not adjusting in the game. My argument is that aranda (given the same circumstances) may not have done that much better.

Dude the following year he let Felipe Frank’s run all over us. Florida had over 200yds rushing in 2018 against us. I agree aranda is a much better def coordinator than Bo and I was bummed on losing him. But stop acting like Aranda’s Defenses never had any flaws or frustrated us fans at times.

I was an immediate fan of the Pelini hire but what he’s being paid, he should have to have time to get things ready. The defense should have been ready to go. They were not ready to do shite.

If Pelini saw that man to man wasn't working, why didn't he adjust?

The short answer is that with the group of kids he had on the field, he thought man to man was still the best option.

I know that's not the answer you want to hear, but it's probably the truth. He at least knew the coverages were going to be sound and that given the pressure we were getting and the mistakes we were forcing, playing man were still the best option.

The defense created 4 turnovers, scored a TD, and gave the offense the ball dep in State territory on another.

The defensive backfield was simply horrendous. Flott was destroyed. Ward was destroyed (albeit injured). Evans was worthless. Neither safety seems to be a coverage safety. Ricks is talented, but the angle he took on one play turned a short gain into a TD, and his lack of hustle on another resulted in a TD. He'll get better.

It's real bad. Without Stingley, it's a disaster against a team that throws it around.

Agreed... in part.

I'm less focused on the $2.3MM and talent. Yes, he is somewhat rebuilding as the whole team is. However, it's not an overhaul. There's talent there. If you can't get this level of talent to execute your scheme(s) then the problem lies elsewhere.

So no, he doesn't need time to recruit to be "effective". "Effective" being a top-5 SEC defense. To be top tier, top 2, yes- that will require some recruiting.

To get that talent to execute to an "effective" range is a much shorter time clock. Like 3 games (with the hinderances this year such as defections & lost practice drill).

great coaches adjust their scheme and tactics based on the personnel they have.

Saying "we need better players" is a cop out. Hell, even I could be a good DC is the roster is loaded with 5-stars.

Coaches really earn their money when they have to work with lesser personnel.

Nah, just 614 total yards and 400 rushing yards against Ole Miss...
