He's taking over after a draft and covid cleaned out most of his experienced talent. Also needs time to recruit guys that fit his system, Aranda wasn't a god his defenses were extremely porous at times.

$2.3 million says otherwise.

Say what you want about Aranda but his defenses never gave up 623 yards passing.

If Pelini saw that man to man wasn't working, why didn't he adjust? Saying "Oh we're just going to keep running this because that's what we do" is bad coaching.

One would think it might not be best to constantly run MAN, with inexperienced players...

He needs Stingley back. I am withholding judgement until Stingley returns.

Then don't hire that guy. He isn't the only DC in the world. IF he's worth 2.3 million, he can make the studs we already have here do better than 600 fricking yards to state.

Pelini was not already at LSU because this is history re-writing itself. Pelini is not that good. He was good the first year and then was eaten alive specially in 3rd downs....nothing has changed.

If anything I give the rest of the team a pass because teams with experience will have a HUGE advantage this year, The lack of practice time this year will hurt the teams that need it most.

Arandas defense gave up over 400yards rushing to ole miss last year and I remember that being pretty pathetic also and lsu fans screaming for his head....just give it time

Defense stopped playing at halftime because the offense couldn't be stopped and the game was already out of hand and we had just beaten Bama at Bama.

Aranda also had a track record of being elite with the

Not to mention if LSU could have sustained a drive in the first 1.5 quarters of play that stat would look different

Well then I'm not surprised that you're defending the garbage we were fed on Saturday.

With all due respect, the sole reason you hire him is to avoid a perceived learning curve due to his experience.

Most Junior High defensive coordinators would have at least tried a zone Saturday.

Study the game a little more before making proclamations of this type.

One player isn't going to magically fix this defense. I'm sure he'll help, but he can't cover an entire field

Idk I'm not ready to sell him down the river, this season is essentially a throwaway season see/evaluate and recruit. I expect vast improvement when stingley returns, Ricks looks promising hes gonna be a stud. Give it time

He took over a National Championship team and in his first game, against a perennial underdog where his team was ranked and heavily favored, lost by 10 and saw the opponent's new QB set a conference record for 623 passing yards.

He definitely needs time. Or something.
