Basically, he says Dana won't book him for a fight w/O a crowd. He wanted to fight numerous times in 2020. Once there was no potential for a gate, UFC stalled.

From DM's with White, Connor wanted Diego fricking Sanchez in May. White basically laughed in his face, saying "we should lose our promoter's license if we book that fight."

Then Connor wanted Gaethje (a hell of a fight), but Dana said nothing could happen until at least July.

Once Tony was KO'd by Gaethje. Connor lost his desired opponent. He also said he'd "fight anyone" at one point. It seems he oy wanted to fight in LA or Dublin.

He's says he's now going to fight Manny Pacquiao in a boxing match in the Middle East (probably for a gigantic payday).

If you go to McGregor's Twitter he has released a lot of text exchanges between he and Dana White.

3 weeks post my last record breaking event, I was campaigning for another blockbuster McGregor event to take place. Sad about my season I must say

Here’s the finish of that exchange. Pre covid. Pre retirement. Never turned down offer of Tony as was suggested at the time. I stated months in advance (early February) that I was not interested in being an alternate for two consistent pullouts. Pushed for my own scheduled bouts

quote:

"I was pushing hard for the season. Multiple opponents, multiple dates offered throughout,” McGregor said Friday night on Twitter. “All to take place back to back. Then when covid hit and the talk was that I would have to wait for crowds again, I walked away from the situation. I was waiting long enough at that stage.”

He also hinted at what could be coming next.

“I’m boxing Manny Pacquiao next in the Middle East,” Notorious said. “It will be a true honour to have faced two of the greatest boxers of the modern era, afraid of a fight.”

The last time McGregor got in a boxing ring was 2017 when he suffered a 10th round TKO at the hands of Floyd Mayweather Jr.

DM's after his Cowboy fight:

At this point he should just join the WWE.

The only reason McGregor lasted as long as he did against Mayweather is because he's a defensive fighter. He's going to get destroyed by someone like Pacquiao who will come out trying to KO him from the first punch.

Why do the leader of the UFC and his biggest star converse like toddlers scribbling in crayon to one another with one having a probable head injury and drooling himself with a probable shitty diaper?

Why would a gate matter when PPV is 100x the revenue?

Khabib vs Conor generated 18 mil at the gate. That's not nothing. I bet if you look at net, it's probably over 10%.

Also people can say what they want about Conor but the guy sells fights. He's got five of the top 5-10 ppv buys of all time and he's not even a boxer.

He sells tickets, but I watch the fighters fight like tonight with Adesanya vs Costa. It’s an exciting matchup. What does it matter if it sells a lot of views or not? 20 years after a fighter retires, people look at this record and who he beat or lost to. They will judge him as a fighter. No one ever said “he a top 5 fighter because he sold a lot of tickets”.

From a business standpoint, yeah it’s nice to look at money and numbers. But like most on here, I’m a fan, not a business person.

Because the people on the card don’t fight for free.

Right about that. But my point is that as a fan, I judge fighters based on what they do in the ring, not how much dough is in their wallet.

Came here to ask this question.

This is just odd and hilarious as the same time to me. Why is this conversation happening in the DMs?

We have the luxury as fans to judge fighters from a fan's perspective. There's no reason a prizefighter should put his life and livelihood on the line without being paid for it. Conor's the biggest box office draw in MMA, maybe boxing right now excepting Tyson Fury, he should be paid accordingly.

which McGregor fight was boring?

Even the Mayweather mismatch had an intrigue to it.

Yep. Manny won't carry him 10 rounds deep into a fight like Mayweather did, if it even comes off.

I don't know where Connor even gets the idea he can be a reasonable threat to multi division boxing World Champions when fighting them in their element.

He's totally delusional.

I have absolutely no interest in watching him fight manny. I just want to see him get back to what he’s actually good at...selling fights in the UFC.

I understand Dana not wanting him to fight without a crowd though. No fighter draws people to travel to see them fight like he does.

ETA: him requesting a fight vs Diego Sanchez and trying to sell it to Dana is fricking stupid. He needs to beat a top guy again to get back into the mix of being a contender, although right now idk if he could beat any of them but he needs those fights. fighting fricking Diego Sanchez and cowboy does nothing for him at this point in his career.
