We don't have a democracy and I don't want one. We have some semblance of a Republic left, barely.

I am not glad she a person died, but I am glad she is off the court. It is possible to remove someone from the court, nobody has the balls to do it or they don't want it done to them so they don't act. Good Behavior needed some clarification from our founders. Someone who is not all there mentally does not need to be on the court, I am not saying an age limit, but some age related conditions should really remove ones eligibility to be on the court.

I am not excited to see the Republicans or Democrats nominate a new judge, judges are so fricking stupid and we keep getting the same types over and over. Precedent shouldn't exist for the supreme court, just because something was done wrong before doesn't mean we should double down on it again because it was already done. That is some dumb shite. We don't have a single freedom loving judge on the court, it is 100% authoritarian supporting the authoritarian Republicrats that have run this country hard political left the past hundred years.

This would make Kavanaugh’s appointment look tame.

Also, Republicans have only 53 seats in the senate while you need 60 to vote in a new Supreme Court justice. I hope Democrats pull the same thing the Republicans did back in 2015 and do not play ball till the election is over

Wrong. It only requires a majority vote now to confirm a judicial nominee.

If trump was smart (he's not} he nominates a moderate it would help him in the swing states and it wouldn't be confirmed by the election And can see what the mix was in the Senate post-election and pull back the nomination if he wanted

President Trump is the president until January. He can nominate anyone and get them confirmed through the Senate with a simple majority.

True but we already know the media is going to paint anyone nominated by Trump as the most evil person to ever live since Brett Kavanaugh.

The Republicans will absolutely fill this seat, regardless of who wins in November.

It is quite possible that we will see the nominee of a president who just lost the election confirmed by senators (some of whom lost their own elections) who just lost the majority.

If that happens and the Democrats win the senate, they will abolish the filibuster, and if they have any guts, they will expand the Supreme Court to nullify the fact that Trump got to name three justices.

You know, as if the validity of every single institution in our entire society hadn't been undermined enough.

The only worse possible outcome for the overall stability of our society would be if some aspect of the election were adjudicated to the Supreme Court (like in 2000) and the RBG replacement judge tips the ruling in favor of Trump, handing him the election.

If he was smart (he’s not) he would go find a conservative black woman and see how the Dems try to spin that

They’re so fricking stupid and largely vile. They are historical ignoramouses and have no idea how this can accelerate extremely quickly.
