The fact that the Big 10 knuckled under is huge politically

This is the first time in my life that I’ve seen the nationwide “conservative” standpoint win a culture battle and essentially force liberals to admit that they’re full of shite and reverse a politically charged, pointless decision.
Leftists cry and kick and scream until things get cancelled that they don’t like, or more realistically, hurt them politically, and today they had to show weakness in a cultural arena that they’ve absolutely dominated for the past 50 or so years.
I don’t think the Big 10’s decision to play is being talked about enough from a political perspective. Their liberal conference leaders tried to big dick the other conferences by rushing to announce the cancellation of their seasons first and strongarm everyone to follow suit in a blatant political move, and they got to walk away with their tail between their legs today. Love to see it

Never thought of it from this point of view. Might be on to something here

I’m thinking it’s more about universities realizing how much money they will lose if they don’t play.

And I'll quip back with "Then the science says you can get your arse to a voting booth without mailing a ballot in, now can't it?"

The Big 10 was just following everyone else who had cancelled already, expecting the remainder of conferences to follow them. That’s how college basketball got cancelled. No one wanted to be last to cancel. The SEC standing firm is what flattened the curve of cancellations for football. Big 12 and ACC would have followed either way, IMO.

They’re also losing their donors. Lifelong fans are saying “frick you” to these idiotic institutions.

I completely agree that it is, but even then, when have you ever seen the left do this even if it saves them money? Literally never lol. They lose and spend incredible amounts of money to retain their #1 resource which is power.

Never forget. The whole reason Big 10 football was canceled was to hurt Trump in the Rust Belt. The media was so happy. I love seeing them get their noses stuck in it today.

But they knew that from day one. I think it's more about their own players and coaches looking at other teams starting to play and getting pissed.

NFL has a larger liberal audience compared to college.
P5 college football fans are mostly white middle America types supporting the state college they attended or the one that represents the state they live in. The money lies in this fanbase. That’s why we lost the NFL cultural battle but are winning the battle with college football

That is part of it as OSU was facing $130 million loss, but the players, families, and fans were raising hell and calling for heads. Their voices are pretty loud.

Money talks. The numbers difference between fall and spring football were just too big to ignore.
