Didn't someone link a tweet from a week ago where the panhandle was still in the cone?

Anyone got an update for Seaside Beach & Racquet?

I don’t, but large places right on the beach like that *likely* fared ok with minor structural damage at worst. Photos I’ve seen from the coast support that. Obviously though there will be some examples of windows or sliding doors breaking and letting the elements in.

This mentality is so misguided and borders the realm of just plain ignorant. The NHC didn’t miss anything. They are only as good as what the data they have allows them to be. They have done a damn fine job. They are patient and meticulous. They don’t make drastic changes to forecasts based on just a few model runs. Hurricanes are still unpredictable. Don’t be a jackass.

I never said they didn’t try to do their best, but they missed. Quit trying to spin it as if they were fooled because of bad data.
The fact is it’s extremely hard to predict some if these storms, There are so many variables and while they have been consistently improving on track forecasts they aren’t doing nearly as well as intensity forecasts.
As late as Sunday morning Gulf Shores wasn’t in the cone nor was it in the warned area.

Yes

Then Sunday it wasnt

Truth is they had no clue at first where this storm was going, even only 48 hours out

And then, only a few miles off the coast, they couldnt figure out the intensity at all

This storm threw them for multiple loops it appears, as mother nature can do

What the frick have I done?

Blame slack. I have said nothing controversial in the least bit. This storm was unpredictable, and because of that nailing down a forecast was not in the cards

I have no clue why that ruffles feathers

I understand what you're saying slackster, however, it didn't help matters at all when TWC's focus was on new orleans.

Louisiana sent the National Guard into NO Monday morning. Even when the board (you, Duke, and others) started making it pretty clear that the h'cane was moving east, TWC was still acting like new Orleans was the target. I followed along here, but most people dont know about the ot lounge. They were listening to what TWC was saying, including the LA national Guard. TWC crying wolf and wish casting for another katrina is dangerous and liable as I'm concerned. All for ratings? Jmo.

For those familiar with the area this is Caswell neighborhood across from Ono

Like I said all boats and boat slips no longer there

Trees and street lights down. No houses in the neighborhood destroyed yet. Sitting in the eye now the neighbor told them

#Sally made landfall early this morning near Gulf Shores, AL with winds of 105 mph, following a period of quick strengthening. Incredible flooding is occurring due to storm surge and multiple feet of rain in some places. Flooding, wind, & tornadoes will impact AL, FL, & GA today.

Here is an interesting picture. This is on the Mobile side of Mobile Bay, where they were in an offshore flow that pushed the water out leaving just sand.
