and the county of landfall had a hurricane warning for over 48 hours.

i mean, youre right here but when theyre predicting landfall on new orleans on sunday morning, then youre predicting a TS, then a category 1, then a landfall in MS, then a cat 2, then landfall in AL....people begin to lose confidence in the model

im not saying there is a better way to handle this or a solution, but i can also understand why people didnt evacuate or trust what was coming and that is unfortunate

No doubt the NHC missed the forecast and missed the intensity, but you make a good point. Moving at 2 mph people had a lot if time to make adjustments. Now the late intensification was a surprise. The talk of shear and upwelling dominated and the forecast didn’t indicate a cat 2 storm.

This mentality is so misguided and borders the realm of just plain ignorant. The NHC didn’t miss anything. They are only as good as what the data they have allows them to be. They have done a damn fine job. They are patient and meticulous. They don’t make drastic changes to forecasts based on just a few model runs. Hurricanes are still unpredictable. Don’t be a jackass.

You can contact the National Hurricane Center with all of your complaints about their forecasts at this email address: NHC.Public.Affairs@noaa.gov.

I’m sure you won’t contact them, though, you’ll just continue to complain about their forecasts here.

Its almost as if nature doesn't watch the weather forecast. People are so arrogant they think weathermen should be 100% correct all the time and basically God.

Ah, well here is their physical address, send them a letter. Better yet, go to Miami and tell them how to do their jobs.

There’s a hurricane hitting the coast, no one missed shite. Sorry if it cramped your style and you got an alert a couple days early. Jesus. Be thankful.
