Sigh. So dumb.
I really don’t care what you think

I don’t hate them, but nobody can say they didn’t miss it. They couldn’t nail down a location and they were all over the place with intensity

Maybe they did the best they could, but them he still missed ir

So people read 1 forecast and turn off the news? If you live in a state bordering the gulf you should remain weather aware during hurricane season. TWC misses forecasts but you have some responsibility in this as well.

Forecasts change. Stay informed. This thing didn’t decide to go to NOLA then actually Pensacola in a matter of hours. The trend was going on for a while.

People in my in-laws neighborhood called Caswell right by bear point were still alive as of last night

Radio silence so far today though. I’m sure they are fine but all their houses are ground level and their neighborhood is full with old oak trees

If yall would actually read the forecast advisories they have said all along high degree of uncertainty with both track and strength and anywhere from SE LA to FL panhandle should prepare for a hurricane

Their hands are tied by the cone methodology

I get it

This was like a 70 yrd field goal attempt. But when the ball doesn’t go through the goalpost it’s still a miss

Sound side at Portofino is completely flooded. Pier is completely underwater as well. Roof torn off the outside restaurant by the pool deck. Doesn’t look like dunes were breached on the beach. Still hard to tell though.

The problem is the ball always ends up between the goalposts. The only question is how far they have to drag the goalposts to make that happen.

Update from in-laws neighbor

They are now officially in the eye. No winds at all now

All boats are gone and slips completely gone. Trees down everywhere

It looks like a bunch of trees down on the property, but the buildings look fine

They literally told you this with every update.

And yet, with all of the bitching, the storm missed one singular cone, and the county of landfall had a hurricane warning for over 48 hours.

Y’all could use some perspective.

Mom’s across the inter coastal from Ono. A window blew out so she’s stuck in her office, riding it out.

Anybody have a good guess when this will be done with Perdido/Orange Beach?

I could do some basic math but hoping someone has a more informed idea when this thing gets done with my mom’s house.

Another shot of the Gulf State Park pier. You can also see some surge did come over the dunes at this spot.

No doubt the NHC missed the forecast and missed the intensity, but you make a good point. Moving at 2 mph people had a lot if time to make adjustments. Now the late intensification was a surprise. The talk of shear and upwelling dominated and the forecast didn’t indicate a cat 2 storm.

Yea the surge was obviously bad there, but the inland flooding seems to be the bigger deal. Sounds like 59 is flooded pretty good cutting off the Gulf Shores beaches from the rest of the area.
