44 stories. 478 rooms. Nice job Debasio. That hotel stayed packed with tourists and business people. Somebody will get it on the cheap and open it back up but NYC is a shite show.

I’ve stayed there several times. Great location. So many things to do within walking distance. It won’t be closed for long.

I’m not familiar with the Hilton but I absolutely hate the Times Square Marriott Marquis and it needs to be demolished, the architecture is atrocious. It was designed by John Portman who gave us the horrible architecture that defined the 70s and early 80s. Brutalism mixed with his "cinematic" sort of style where you took open elevators up and showed you one layer of ugliness to the next. I know some people like him but I don’t like his style at all and unfortunately it seemed to definite a decade.

New York Marriott Marquis
Edit: here’s a good documentary about Portman and his life and work. If you’re into architecture it’s work a watch even if you don’t like his style. LINK

I hope Trump scoops it up on the cheap.

How poetic would be if Trump bought it?

Trump organization needs to buy it!

Seems like it has just became the most appropriate place for the Biden campaign to hold their election night party that I can think of.

Trump jr. should step in and buy it!

Times Square is about the most awful place to stay in all of Manhattan.

I mean...another major chain will just purchase it and open up a similar hotel there, or Hilton will do it under one of their other chain names. Its a hotel that is always packed, and all of this will end eventually.
I personally would never stay at a hotel near Times Square but whatevs.

Very nice reasonably priced hotel in great area. Home base for my last 3 trips

Time Square will go back to the Peep Shows of the 70s to stay alive. NYC knows there is no shortage of Pervs.

Stayed there on my honeymoon.
Who would’ve thunk it. Ol’ Clyde Tipton went to the big apple.
