A ULM graduate and Winnsboro-native, Berry received a groundswell of support during the public-comment portion of the meeting. ULM faculty, students, local business leaders and elected officials endorsed Berry, including State Sen. Stewart Cathey Jr., R, Monroe, West Monroe Mayor Staci Mitchell and Oak Grove Mayor Adam Holland.

Philadelphia Eagles head coach Doug Pederson, a former ULM quarterback, endorsed Berry with a public comment.

“Over the past few months, I have heard from the ULM community about the need to have one of their own as president,” said Cathey, who attended the meeting.

“Dr. Berry is the very definition of a Warhawk. The show of support for Dr. Berry assured me that he is the best person to move ULM forward during these unprecedented times.”

He was the Dean of the Business School previously. I'm excited as heck for this for my alma mater honestly. I think he gets it and will continue the progress Dr. Bruno initiated while still maintaining some of the traditions and things that made campus special he seemed to ignore at times.

His wife helped set my wife on a solid career path. She(my wife) was hoping it would be him.

Sheesh, ULM is such a dumpster fire. Hopefully he can put out the flames.

He was my advisor waaaaaaaaaay back in the day when I was a young, new CIS major. He was dept head when I went back years later and he helped our class sort out an issue with an unreasonable Marketing prof.

He's always been a sharp guy, this bodes extremely well for ULM!
