Fixed it. She is the root of almost all problems, starting with her and her friends crashing into Johnny's firebird.

Not to mention ignoring her nerd friend to hang out with the popular girls. She isn’t a good person.

The true villain is D-man. He constantly provoked conflicts and then played the victim whenever he met comeuppance for his cowardly actions. These actions sent Hawk on his spiral that had Moon dump him, motivating the sacking of Miyagi Dojo. Then, just when the Cobra Kai and Miyagi Do kids were all coming together as friends and Hawk was starting to learn some humility to mellow out and relax, he pores gasoline on the fire and restarts the karate war that boils over the next week at school.
Robby and Samantha especially also share some culpability, but Demetrie is the true villain of the series.

I am not sure who I like less Robbie or Demetri. Both are total losers in their own way.

Robbie is at least physically a badass who can stand up for himself. Demetrie is a cowardly count.

She takes after her father. He almost ruined Johnnys life with an illegal move. Don't even get me started on what he did to Chozen.
No telling how much money Larusso has cost Johnny lawerence, Chozen, Sato, Mike Barnes, Terry Silver, John Kreese and even Miyagi himself. Free Karate Lessons, The 1948 Ford Super De Luxe goes for about $50,000 today. Put a burden on him by throwing a surprise business on him, then caused him to go broke. But now he gets to be rich and feel right and vindicated about all his actions.
That tournament was rigged against Mike Barnes and I have proof.
Ali left him and bettered her life, Kumiko chose to pursue her dream (Or was just abandoned by Daniel, we haven't heard her side), and Jessica had enough sense to friend zone him early on and gtfo of town.

I have been saying for years, Daniel is definitely the villain. Johnny, was trying to mind his own business; when Daniel inserted himself in to someone else’s private life.

frick Daniel. He was the instigator.

I think they both have their faults. They both were impacted by what happened 35 years ago. In good and bad ways. They both hold a grudge to a certain degree and both feel victimized by the other. This is long and has spoilers. So, beware.
Daniel had great guidance with Mr Miyagi. Mr Miyagi could always keep him grounded in reality and help him put things in to perspective. Without Mr Miyagi, he has sort of lost his anchor. He has lost that person that he could turn to for whatever problem. And, to a point, I think he knows it and it is an internal struggle.
He has a hatred of Cobra Kai. Bad memories and experiences will do that. On one hand, I understand why he tries to sabotage Johnny opening up CK again. On the other hand, he is having a hard time seeing that people can change and that Johnny does not want to be like Kreese.
Johnny had a shitty life. Yeah, he had a family that had money. But his step father was a POS and continues to be one throughout the series. That's the reason he ended up at Cobra Kai to begin with. An upbringing like that(both step father and Kreese) will have a lasting effect on a person. He has made bad decisions and at times cant seem to get out of his own way. He has Daniel on his arse causing problems, but his bitterness and warped idea of how things played out just makes him be an a-hole as well. Seems like he places blame for his problem on others rather than taking any responsibility and control of his own action.
They both grow and change throughout the series. There is still that bitter rivalry between them. But there is a hint of respect and understanding between the two. Daniel knows how Cobra Kai is and the kind of teaching Johnny got when he himself joined Cobra Kai in Karate Kid 3. They're both stubborn asses. But both have good intentions.

I've just finished the first season and believe the show is set up for every character to be a bad guy in various episodes. Daniel is a really petty a-hole in several episodes and Johnny can't shake his learned dickheadedness. The kids are all assholes at various times as well. The only character that hasn't acted poorly is Daniel's wife.

That's because she's the only voice of reason. Her at the restaurant "Oh, they have warring karate dojo's..."

I don't think I've gotten that far, or i dont remeber the line. On episode 2 of season 2.
Far cry from Skylar White or other annoying TV wives.
Its so amusing how Daniel regards Cobra Kai like it' is the Empire from Star Wars or Hydra from comic books. It's a little dojo in a mediocre part of town.

I find it amusing that character traits that get you labeled as the bad guy in these shows are probably ones a lot of people watching the show shared at the same age.

Agreed. It doesnt make her a bad person. It makes her a teenager. Teens do stupid shite. I know I definitely did.

Well, he was sorta one too. But still wouldn't have crossed Kreese at the time.
But still..tournament was for brown and black belt. Daniel wasn't a black belt. Won with an illegal kick. There should be an asterisk by Daniels name or decision reversed and Johnny is the default champion.

I don’t know who the definitive bad guy is, but I do know the best guy is obviously Stingray.
