Apparently wasn't the shooter's wife that was being accosted.

BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - The Baton Rouge Police Department is still working to figure out how a man asking for money in the parking lot of Trader Joe’s on Perkins Road turned into a deadly shooting on Saturday, Aug. 22.
BRPD confirms to WAFB there have been no arrests in this case so far, and police have not released the name of the person who reportedly pulled the trigger.
Now, for the first time, a woman who says the man ended up dead just seconds after asking her for money is talking about what happened.
“Yes, he did ask for money. Yes, maybe he did come a little into my space to speak to me, but that’s not a death sentence,” said Kaylee.
Kaylee, who didn’t want her full name used, says she and her roommate were leaving Trader Joe’s Saturday evening when they were approached by a man, later identified as Danny Buckley, 61.
“He was like, you know, ‘Hey, can I get some money?’ And I didn’t have any cash or anything. I just kept walking and I didn’t engage with him,” said Kaylee.
A source familiar with the case tells WAFB Buckley was begging for money in the store’s parking lot.
Kaylee says she ignored Buckley, but as she was getting into her car, she remembers hearing another man talking.
“I looked over and I could see him [other man], and he said, ‘Hey, leave those girls alone.’ Well then I got into my car because I don’t like confrontation,” she said.

And I was like, ‘There’s no way,‘” said Kaylee.

“Whenever I gave my statement, I made sure to tell them that I never felt threatened as a young woman. I’m 21, white female, so that’s why we were so confused that why this man just felt that this was the necessary action to take. We couldn’t really believe it,” said Kaylee.
Kaylee sounds like a dim bulb.

Umm, I'm pretty sure the man was walking with his wife. He may have white knighted for those girls, but was still walking with his wife when the shooting happened.

Kaylee is what we call a “useful idiot”. Kaylee thinks because SHE didn’t get into a confrontation that she can say this bum didn’t deserve to die. But Kaylee has no idea what transpired when he got killed.
STFU Kaylee and quit opining about the justification of the shooting till you know all the facts.
“I don’t like confrontation”. Well you might feel differently about this shooting if you were actually confronted by the deceased.
Stupid count.

Shooter was still with his wife. He may have drawn attention to himself and his wife by taking it from those college girls

Problem I see and best guess is, the homeless guy went nuts once the shooter told him to not be messing with the young lady. I had them do that to me telling them to back off and get away from me.

As a matter of fact, yes you did.

You didn’t say it, but you certainly insinuated it with you’re OP.

I hate to derail this thread because your reading comprehension skills suck, so I'm just going to leave this here: you need to sue your 4th grade English teacher....

I assume that we have not yet heard a statement from the shooter or his wife? Sounds like the guy drew the panhandlers attention away from the random comment girl and towards he and his wife. Its kinda important to understand what transpired then.

Was the panhandler armed?
I want to see how this plays out. Did the panhandler pull a knife or other weapon on the shooter? Sounds like it might be similar to the Trayvon case where yeah, Zimmerman was cleared but he was still an idiot for putting himself in an unnecessary confrontation that ended in use of deadly force.

Sure. They're bound to have this all on security video and that will clear plenty of it up, but right now we don't even know if the shooter was with ANYONE, let alone a wife.

The "witness" didn't see the shooting and was so concerned about the guy that got shot, she left. She was neither a witness nor Woke.

The panhandling in BR is way out of control to begin with, especially around the College Drive, Acadian area. I have no idea what happened in this case, but I do know that this was bound to happen sooner or later. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been approached by brazen panhandlers in this city, some of whom will get right up in your personal space to give you their sob story. To me, this falls on the overall lack of leadership in this city that allows this shite to go on on every corner panhandlers decide to work, every single day in this city. You simply cannot get off the interstate without a panhandler working a corner in BR. That’s a fact, and it’s nonsense.
