Kind of looks like a small child or midget face planted while drunk

It was next to a lake. Coming out of the lake actually.

I was thinking either beaver, otter, deformed raccoon, or maybe a turtle.

The track is about 4 inches longways.

Was there a line running between the prints?

Not that I could see. It's a relatively steep muddy bank where lake users put in and drag out kayaks/canoes etc.

I also didn't see any front prints, just those two rear (I think) prints.

Probably, but ...

Have recently gotten some misattributed mail to a guy named Jason? Has there been a run on hockey masks? What with the covids and all it may have gone unnoticed.

The rougarou (alternatively spelled as roux-ga-roux, rugaroo, or rugaru) is a legendary creature in Laurentian French communities linked to traditional concepts of the werewolf.
