Searched for Sudekis and Lasso but didn’t see any.
Watched the first three episodes last night and laughed my arse off. Sudekis is a gem. It’s profane at times and silly at others, but it’s hilarious and sweet and uplifting.
Can’t wait for the other episodes.

Is this the Apple TV soccer sitcom? Liked funny in the trailers I saw during the Champions league matches this week. Not funny enough to get me to sign up for Apple TV though.

Yeah I’m really looking forward to it. Loved all the premier league promos he did back when NBC was kicking off their first season. Will wait until all episodes are available before I watch though.

So basically they took a character they made for a commercial and turned it into a TV show?

You could think of the commercial character like SNL skits.

It’s actually very good. Surprisingly good. Sudeikis is fantastic and hilarious but it’s also a legitimately good sports show.

It's a Bill Lawrence show, so it should at least be decent.

Yep and Zach Braff directed the second episode.

I enjoyed the 3 episodes that have dropped so far. It's got a strong Major League vibe going on. The show has taken a funny one-dimensional character from a commercial (one of my all time faves FWIW) and given him a lot more depth almost instantly. This version of Ted Lasso seems to be a personable, positive ACTUAL good guy in over his head... not just a bombastic buffoon.
My List of TV Comedy Shows that are guaranteed to make me chuckle at least a couple times per episode is a short one. So far - this show seems to be on it. I'm looking forward to seeing the rest of the season.

I had been wondering if anybody else had been watching it. I think it’s awesome: lots of funny, charming, and even some really heartfelt moments. I guess that shouldn’t be surprising since that’s a lot like Scrubs (since Bill Lawrence is the creator). And I really like Jason Sudeikis anyways, but I’m especially impressed by him in this.
I just finished the 5th episode, and it was the best one yet and a bit of a change of pace (spoiler led to get into details beyond that).
And I just saw that it was renewed for season 2.

I've watched all of the current episodes and have really enjoyed it so far. I think it has a lot charm and character too. I really like how his insistent optimism wins people over in the end.

This show is fantastic. Sure it’s funny, which is important, but it’s also sweet and kind in a way that is remarkably rare these days. Literally every person on the show is likable. You’d think that would take away from the conflict, but it doesn’t. Each episode is like a injection of good vibes. Do yourself a favor and check it out.

Agreed. The show is not that funny to me. It's not even really a comedy, it's a show about relationships and human emotions.
Sudekis is really just the glue that holds the show together. Yes, he's obviously the star and the focal point. But what's so good about this show is the casting and the charm of basically every supporting character.
The setting and shooting in England really helps, but the owner, the GF, the old vet player, the equipment guy, the random fans/townsfolk, and the GM all shine.
This is truly one of the most heartwarming and best shows I've seen in a while. And it all came from a damn commericial. That shows some pretty damn good talent is behind the scenes.

Bill Lawrence has shown time and again that he can balance comedy and soul really well.
Scrubs is the OG, but he's also done it with Cougartown and now Ted Lasso.

Another great episode this morning. Amazing how soccer is just a background piece to the show about a soccer team.
