For some reason I find small town politics and the dirty things that go down, interesting. I have have several, but years ago I was at a friend's house and his daddy was talking with us and he was telling us stories about when he was younger.

His best friend, who he had been friends with since they were kids.. His daddy was an elected official who was in office for a long time. My friend's daddy told us that one time they had gone to this all black church. They pulled up right behind the church, the pastor came out and met the elected official at the back of his car and when the pastor walked off he was holding a brief case.

They went around and they went to the service. They were the only white people in there. And at one point the pastor started telling the congregation how god blessed (he said the elected official's name)to serve the community and how he was a man of god and that's why it is important that they get out and go vote for him. After the pastor said his part, they left.

Then my friend's daddy told us that they dropped him off at home later that day, on the way to an evening service somewhere else

The fact that you are an adult who still refers to another adult as "my best friend's daddy" is super creepy.

I have no stories, but I bet if you could send about 100 hard arse investigators to hit up all of the small towns, you would probably find 75% are doing shady stuff.
The police chiefs, sheriffs, parish presidents, and mayors are into lots of things would be my assumption

Former Lafourche Parish Sheriff Nick Tardo tried to kill the current (at that time) Lafourche Parish Sheriff Duffy Breaux with a pipe bomb. BTW, I believe Duffy was later convicted of corruption and sent to jail.

You honestly think this whole thread revolves around the idea I want people to call out the fact I referred to someone's father as daddy?

This was a long time ago so I guess being that's how he referred to his daddy.. as daddy, I was just telling it as I would refer to him because.. well.. like a nickname. If you knew someone who was referred to as their nick name all the time. If you haven't seen them in many years, didn't know anything about their life, etc.. When you do see them you will refer to them as the name you knew them as.

But yeah, my goal was to see if someone would call me out on referring to someone's father as daddy. You are a brilliant one.

This is a link to a Reddit thread about the widespread corruption in a town in New Jersey.. But I am not familiar with the Biloxi story. I'll look it up.

Current Terrebonne Parish president was once a State Rep. About a year after becoming a rep the state comes in and bulkheads about a mile of drainage ditch behind his house.

Longtime mayor of my hometown supposedly had a contract on his life somewhere in Tennessee.

Apparently he was in on some big time moonshining ring and screwed over some folks with Dixie Mafia ties. (And what's weird about him being a big time moonshiner, is when he moved here and became mayor, he didn't allow bars in the city limits. Except one, which he was rumored to be a silent partner in :lol) Don't know all the specific details of what he did but it was rumored he wasn't allowed back in that county in TN for fear of retribution. He did have an adult son that died under mysterious circumstances and was found just south of the TN border.

Both of them had the nickname daddy? Your friend's daddy and your friend's daddy's friend's daddy?

Ever think that the reason why he didn't allow bars was exactly because he was a moonshiner?
