Yea. I wasnt advocating against bringing in Fields... just that if it doesnt happen.... could be worse off as far as Brennan goes bc not sure hes totally in as it stands even now

We need a a quality back up imo. Whoever that would be so I’m all for it. Just a true Fresh behind Brennan is honestly scary.

If the transfer market opens up QB is a no brainer as a position of need. Doesn’t have to be Fields but need to build depth, we are one play away from Max Johnson starting.

ETA: or one positive Brennan Covid test away from Johnson starting...need to have backup plans this year

There will be questions as to whether the season is cancelled going all the way up to the start.

I just dont see the logistics for taking immediate transfers working when its all said and done.

Why would Fields even play? I'm sure had he been eligible, he would've gone to the draft last year.

Basically he can do that now, bypass the season and get ready for the draft.

Why go to a new program, learn a new system, risk getting hurt.

Makes no sense.

I agree that was a bad move for Myles on twitter liking all of those posts about canceling.

What has Myles been liking in social media?

Maybe because he’s a college kid that loves football and wants to compete for a championship? Is it that hard to understand?

Seems unusual for someone who has waited 3+ years for his shot. He should be chomping at the bit to play

...unless... he's really that worried about the virus. In which case he should opt out now so we can get someone else ready.

Fields and his parents have been advocating for a season big time. He will transfer if OSU doesn’t play. Book it.

seems a lot of the big time players at programs that have shut the door on the 2020 season are working out the process with the NCAA to get their name in the transfer portal. I’m being told this will devastate some of these programs due to the mass exodus. I don’t want to get ahead of myself when I asked if we could possibly bring in another transfer QB from Ohio state I was told both parties would jump at the opportunity. For the time being we wait on the NCAA... but this season will look completely different in a months time.

This is false. Are SEC, Big12 & ACC teams now going to process 5-15 players on campus? Kids do want to leave the schools that aren’t playing but the NCAA and Conferences won’t let it happen.

What if the teams have 5-15 players that opt to sit out the year? What if the NCAA allows teams to add scholarships to make up for this unprecedented situation? A lot of unknowns right now.

Nobody said we only had one spot available... if ncaa opens this up we will have multiple available spots.

And if my aunt was a man she'd by my uncle. If is the only word that matters in this or your original post. Currently, as NCAA rules permit, we have 1 spot.

The NCAA is not gonna allow 2 of its big 5 conferences to be ravaged and not be able to recover. It's nonsensical to think otherwise. Sure some top kids are going to transfer and that their right but the NCAA isn't gonna change the initial counters rule, for 1 year, and allow 26 schools to be ravaged. Waivers will not be an issue, just space because of initial counters

For the argument that "kids can't be denied the right to play". I'm with you and agree, however, what about the kids who aren't highly sought after and have nowhere to play? Don't they have the right to play as well? Can't they sue that they're being discriminated against? You bet your arse they can. College footballs version of the participation trophy. The NCAA can't rule that supply and demand dictates who can and cannot play. Also have to understand that 85 limits aren't gonna be changed for those that can play, so again some will be left out against their choosing. Not gonna work.
What happens to the players on teams that are playing that have worked for 2,3,4 years to "earn" their spot on the team? Are they expected to sit around and not play because a transfer took their spot? They can't transfer and be immediately eligible because they are transferring from a playing school so not exempt.
What happens to team unity when a staff decides to bring in a few transfers a month before the season, that put in little to no work with the team and then take spots from friends and "family" within the program? You think the kids on the team are really gonna go for that? If you do, you know nothing of the team concept nor been in a locker room as a part of a team. How would parents of recruits feel about a coach that has just shown he really doesn't care about your kids? A perceived better one comes along and your kid is thrown away like trash. Not a good look.
Back to the ravaging. Say all above is just ignored and the NCAA allows total immunity, expand rosters and give all immediate eligibility. Say 10 players per school not playing transfer to play now. That's 260 players that need to be replaced on rosters, in a single year, on top of the roughly 500 per year that are brought in any way. There's not enough quality kids to fill those spots.
It's even more nonsensical if you use a school like Ohio ST. Their kids are gonna be highly sought after, meaning that they could lose half(or more) of their roster in a single year with no way to replenish them. You can't open the can of worms and allow them to take 40-50 recruits in a single year nor would they want to.
In short if you want college football as we know it to cease to exist, open it up and allow anarchy. You won't like the results.

1. I’m not reading that wall of text... do better.
2. This is an unprecedented event that’s taken place in society, no? Then why are we going to clutch onto what we know the rules to be. All of the rules have completely changed in ever avenue of day to day life, why is this any different?
3. While I agree with your overall notion (or the first 400 words that I read) people that I know and trust have told me that changes were coming. They aren’t perfect, but they’re damn close. We’ll have to wait and see.
4. Don’t let my speculation get you upset, we have far bigger issues in today’s world than 85 scholarship limits in college football.
