Well at least you didn’t have to pause it have to explain seasons 3-6 to her. Silver linings

Lost is my all time favorite show. I knew my marriage was over when we watched the first half of season 1 together and she hated it.
Even if you take out the supernatural and all that goes with it, the character development is amazing.
I'm not certain of too many shows that give you that full spectrum:
1. Here you are during and after catastrophic event. What are you going to do?
2. This was your life before and how you got here.
3. This would be your future if you continued your path.
4. Your lies and truths equally get exposed.
5. The ones you love/trust and the ones you dislike/distrust have the same opportunity to disappoint you or redeem themselves throughout the show.
6. There isn't a simple permanent on/off switch of good/bad. It's complex, which IMO makes it interesting.
The analogy in my head right now is The Godfather since it's been discussed recently here. Michael's character development is my #1 all-time for a single character. It's so layered.
Now think of an ensemble TV cast of mostly unknowns, some iffy and sappy writing at times, but the gist is there. It's a great show even if you're not into other parts of it. Which I like as well.

Shows like Dexter deserve scorn for their late seasons (although I understand there were reasons behind that going to shite) bc they were utter garbage and basically an insult to viewers. That's not the case with lost.
Lost was the first TV show that I honestly thought about during the week and could not wait till it came on the next week. If you watched this show when it originally aired you were probably "involved" in it

I think what goes unmentioned a lot, in regards to the shows success, is that each character had their own personal battles. Most humans struggle with something one way or another, and I felt like people could relate.
The scene with Locke and Walt in S1 is phenomenal.
Backgammon
Definitely my favorite show of all time.

I just finished my third watch of Lost (original airing, and two binges).
I say there was only one episode that was a waste of an episode. It was the episode with Nikki and the diamonds. It had nothing to do with the story.
As for the ending, when it originally aired, I thought the show sold out, giving us a bad ending.
When I finished it again, a few weeks ago, I realized the ending was perfect, not rushed.

Nonsense, completely worth it, only reason I watched The Glades

Yea that broad was a smoke show

The series was great until season 6. The temple arc was one of the most painful to get through. “I don’t speak English because I don’t like the taste of it on my tongue”. The sideways had a great payoff but it was boring seeing them repeat so many arcs like Kate running, etc.

Certain elements of Season 6 were ok. It would have been so ballsy to end it after the S5 finale. Man that one was good.

Agreed. I remember us on here wondering where they were gong with a lot of that. But IIRC, at least the temple was tied to the smoke monster and all that.
I personally remember bitching about filler shite during that last season and being annoyed at the seemingly random shite they kept introducing when they should have been trying better to wrap shite up. That being said though, I still thought they did a good job, and the last few episodes were great IIRC. And I loved the finale.
All in all, I absolutely loved the show and watching as it aired and participating in the discussions on this board. That was good times.

Why? The Jacob plot line not being resolved would be seen as ridiculous.

This episode is way overblown in terms of how hated it is. It’s a pretty solid Twilight Zone episode if you approach it from that angle. “Fire + Water”, “Across the Sea”, “Stranger in a Strange Land”, and “Adrift” are much worse episodes than Exposé. I’d put it really as a mid-tier episode. And besides, what better way to kill off two loathsome characters than burying them alive and them knowing what’s going on? And years later, Miles got the diamonds.

I didn’t realize there was so much vitriol for that episode. I honestly thought it was a decent side story and a fun little caper.
Yeah, characters sucked, but the girl was a smoke show (honestly Rodrigo Santoro is too, no homo) and it was a fitting end for them.

"Stranger in a strange land" is a great episode.
That's what they say. That's not what they mean.

How on earth do you have time for this? It's like 200+ hours of tv lol. Also i can never get through the later seasons. It's just one crying scene after another.
I just watch to season 3 and forget about it for a few years again.
