Honestly, I don't care what someone wears to church, but if you go to church in smaller communities, people wearing shorts is a lot more common.

I don't attend church unless its for a special even for a relative or a friend's kid or something, but you would think.. In theory, if there is one place you wouldn't be judged.. is church.

I frequently wear shorts to church which is a traditional Episcopal. It helps that my priest wears jeans under his vestments.

find it trashy or disrespectful when adults wear shorts to the main Sunday service?

Judge not lest you be judged. Sounds like you need to re-evaluate yourself.

Yes, in theory. The Southern Baptist and United Methodists churches are filled to the brim with so elf the most judgmental people I’ve ever encountered.

I typically wear paints but can confidently say I’ve never had a single thought that popped into my head when I’ve seen someone wearing shorts in church. Why would anyone care enough to even worry about that? Apparently you aren’t paying attention in church and just going there to play dress up.

In the 60s as an elementary and high school kid on Staten Island I always wore a jacket and tie to mass (would take off the tie if I was serving mass to put on the cassock and surplus).

In the 70s and 80s as a young professional I generally wore a suit and tie to church.

In the 2000s, in my 60s, I would go to Our Lady Queen of Peace in Arlington, Va. The pastor there was a great guy and a good friend. I would show up for 8:00 mass in golf clothes (shorts) and usually wearing Foot Joys (spikeless). He knew that after mass I was heading to Fairfax to play golf. As he walked down the aisle during the recessional he would always give me a smile and a lefty golf swing. He was always happy to see the congregation and didn't give a damn what we were wearing.

He had some health problems and was transferred back to his provincial house and died there around 2015. He was a terrific priest and the finest Christian I ever met. I miss that man.

I doubt that God cares what people wear to church.

Nothing wrong with wearing shorts to church. I wear them every Sunday during the summer and don’t care what anyone thinks.

Depends on the culture of the church. If a contemporary service with younger audience during the summer, I see no issue with nice shorts.

In the grand scheme of things, is it any different than a woman wearing a skirt?

You’re right; it is androgynous for a grown man to wear short pants in public if he’s not playing a sport or swimming.

Grow up, boys.

If they are wearing shorts it must be a catholic mass or somewhere like a healing place.

My mom: You can't wear sandals to church.

16 year old me: If sandals were good enough for Jesus, then they're good enough for me.

My mom: *hard stare

16 year old me: *goes put on regular shoes

Is it ok to wear my nice fishing shirt tucked into my dress jeans? I’m fat so I need that back flap to let my back fat breath.

I don't think I've ever worn shorts to Mass.

But depending on which service I attend, I'll dress accordingly.

We usually attend Vigil Mass. I'll wear jeans and polo type shirt.

If we got to the main Sunday Mass, I'll usually wear a tie and blazer.

Go to the church services Sunday mornings at the Flora-Bama, that’s all anyone wears. It’s outside, hot as blazes, and people would be passing out otherwise.

John the Baptist dressed on mangy furs and looked crazy. I think shorts are good!

They're there.

Pretty sure Jesus didn't have a dress code.
