We need your money for our programs

I suspect this is happening in Democrat run cities across the country. These same leaders are trying to stifle commerce as much as possible then they want to take more of your money to recoup the losses they’ve created because of their same policies.

I can't imagine the facing crunch is going to only be limited to "Democrat run cities." This is not to tout the idea of Democrat run cities, of course.

That would be lower than the annual 10%they do a lot of the time.

It is inevitable for NYC.

It is why Cuomo is begging people to return to the city to help patch a huge shortfall caused by the highest earners fleeing.

Why wouldn't they propose it? They know it'll get passed.

In EBR they weren’t rolling back millages when things were good. Now property is losing value, I bet they don’t reassess.

That's a great way to help the middle and working classes.

One of the best parts about living in AL is the absurdly low property tax rate. I probably pay more in gas tax than what I do for property.

Every city is struggling with this. Look at Omaha.

Maybe they should open the fricking businesses?

Commerce generates tax revenue.

When people can’t pay their mortgage, don’t have a job and can barely provide food for their families, these idiots double down on stupid. This will happen across America unfortunately.

They still haven’t let us appeal our property values for 2020. Now they’re proposing to raise rates on people that are already struggling. Oil prices crashing which drives most of the local economy. Great job Houston leadership!

Without a doubt. A bunch of bussed in voters expecting a free lunch will pass this.

I agree that they should. But I still think people are under-estimating how much of the "shutdown" is due to actual fear on the part of the population (i.e. voluntary.) Now, I attribute THAT to the ignorance of science and facts generated by the absolutely miserable and derelict "reporting" that ALL media have done on this whole thing.
