So, how about one of the trailer parks in Lake Charles telling their tenants that if they don’t pay September rent they won’t allow adjusters to their mobile home

Does anyone know if FEMA is reimbursing for chainsaws like they did after Katrina?

Not taking away from anything that Katrina brought. But if the levees don’t fail, she is not as bad a storm as this one....... this storm just plain messed shite up with its winds and everything else....
Yes it was..... but not as bad as what the SW coast of LA is looking at... we are talking months and months to recover from this and even get back to a somewhat normal life.........
this is false....
As someone who lived less than a mile off the beach in Long Beach, I can tell you that you are wrong. Maybe you just missed the coverage on the MS coast (which is fair, we were second fiddle to NOLA). Everything, LITERALLY everything along the 26 mile stretch along Hwy 90 was demolished. Slabs, that's it. And that's just the stretch for about half a mile inland from the beach. It took YEARS for the coast to get back to some semblance of what it was before Katrina and there are STILL lots and slabs along the beach that remain empty.
The levees failing fricked NOLA hard, but that wasnt the only place affected. The MS gulf coast took the brunt. We had a 35' storm surge in Long Beach.

For anybody that needs em or coming in LC from Texas, Walmart in Vidor just got a lot of gas cans in

Just left LC heading back to Hou. I-10 East bound from around Orange to LC traffic was very slow.

Been a busy few days, but house is tarped, gutted the ceiling in one room and sealed it off with a couple of blowers inside to help dry things out. Have another blower on the floor outside of that room where some water splashed and pooled. Portable AC and dehumidifier running as well to limit mold/mildew in rest of house. Now I just have to keep it running part time for a few weeks until the power is back. Also got the yard cleaned up except for most of my neighbor's tree which they agreed to take care of. All in all, we're very lucky.

How is 190 as an alternate route from BR to LC?
Posted on 9/2/20 at 2:14 pm to Whodattigah
Absolutely no traffic on 190, clear sailing

I have never heard anyone say that it was a 35' storm surge.
But still I realize that Miss. took a huge hit... But just think if Katrina did NOT weaken before landfall how bad it could have been.. At One time she had 175 MPH winds.......

You had reported waves in Biloxi at around 34 feet.
NOAA confirms surge of 25-28 feet along the Mississippi Gulf Coast and the storm hit at high tide.
Unconfirmed reports from BSL/Waveland/Lakeshore were up to 40 feet in some places with waves of 55 feet.

I used to have a map of the coast that had the surge for every mile or so but I cant find it anymore. It showed LB and Pass Christian at like 35' and 33' feet (I believe respectively).
This shows it at 33' but like I said, I used to have one, from NOAA I believe that showed it in mile increments down the entire coast of MS....

Odd. I live in central Jackson county in the coast. I have seen maps that showed over 20 feet here. I know I’m 12 feet above seal level and I received 5 feet above that.

Ok that makes a little more sense, tho the water came rolling in from the East.
