To me, a weather idiot, that makes it look like the eye is going off the shore.

Center of circulation is not the same thing as “eye”

I don’t think it has. The nearest US radar site (Key West) is pretty far away, so the radar beam is pretty high up by the time it reaches Laura. So we’re seeing precip that surrounds the center, but it isn’t clear enough to show exactly how large the center is. My bet is that the center is still largely over land.

What does RI do to the forward movement of storms, do they speed up, slow down, or does it have any effect on movement at all

I think stronger storms tend to move faster in most cases?

You are correct sir. I was there for both. Many homes did flood in both storms though. The speed of Laura is what we really need to be paying attention to. It can be the difference between a flood event, or wind event.

We’re leaving Lake Charles for NW Houston tomorrow. Hopefully this is a good move.

Vidor to Beaumont got hit hard last year from a much smaller system. Any tracks west of Vidor would be concerning for them, a shift closer to LC would be bad for LC to Lafayette.......

Yeah, I live between Beaumont & Winnie. Just finished remodel from Imelda last year. Rather get more than a few weeks of a nice house

We’ve decided to stay. We are in Iowa so no real threat of flooding and no trees around us. Got the generator and plenty of fuel and lots of supplies.

If I can I want to go get a wind gauge tomorrow to see what kind of conditions we get.

Final recon pass pinned the LLC as still being over Cuba, so what is showing up on radar and sat is probably in the mid-levels. This puts the LLC closer to the convective burst to the south. How that resolves as it moves out of water will be interesting to watch.

Pulling closer to the south means west pull as of now right?
