Can somebody predict if I will lose power in BR?
It's nut cutting time on this decision to buy a generator or not.
Thanks for the help.
Use it, drain the gas, box it back up, and return it

Cat 1 winds produce minimal damage
Cat 1 winds produce plenty of power outages. If you’re evacuating, you don’t evacuate to a place that is also likely to lose power.

Lowes is one step ahead. They had signs that said they only accept returns of generators unopened in the box.

Unless I live in a storm surge area I wouldn't even leave Lake Charles but that's just me. People need to do what they feel comfortable doing.
let me clarify earlier. i'm worried about going too far and having to come back and dealing with it on both sides
i'm not worried about anything other than inconvenience. i worry about shreveport b/c of damage/debris on 171 and losing power in shreveport, not b/c something would happen to me. same with LC just on a higher scale

Gas stations in LC are starting to run short on gas. We are leaving before daybreak tomorrow. Just have to nail down 100% where. This thread has me rethinking the destination.

I have a ton of subs that work for me that I pay weekly. I need to be able to do my payroll with the internet and electricity on Thursday. I can't be without power so I have no choice really and don't want to risk my business.
Go east to like NOLA and be ready to go a little farther east on the chance it does slide a little farther east. That or get somewhere in East Texas with a decent hotel.

Good luck man.
You can always head back out west...

Of course they do but a power outage won't kill you which is the point to people saying Shreveport is about to be wiped off the map. If I evacuate I'm heading home the second the storm is past so I wouldn't care if the power goes out.

Eric and Matt from Space City Weather are doing a Facebook live starting any minute now for those interested.

12z Euro EPS is centered just SW of Houston. It only gets a few of the 50+ members into Louisiana.

that wasn't my point. if shreveport is in danger of losing power, then it's a bad option for me. might as well be in LC without power

Sending the wife and kids east to Mont Belvieu to stay with my oldest daughter and her husband.

Filled up my wife and I's vehicles yesterday before the runs started

It's gonna hit Austin...isn't it?
You folks making plans to head West may want to head East, instead.

I’m having the conversation with my wife on if we should leave or not
South of Lafayette, north of HWY14, flood zone X (we aren’t even required to carry flood insurance)
I think we are more than fine. The stuff that we have to worry about is still something to worry about 100 miles north of us

So right now it looks like Shreveport will get it worse than BR?

i was out and about earlier and as of noon it didn't seem like anyone was thinking evac. tomorow may be way different
Evacuations won't really ramp up until Wednesday when people know pretty much where it's going and see how strong it is.

I will probably hit up a casino hotel and don't they usually have back up generators?
If casinos remain open, that would be my assumption as well. If you can wait till tomorrow morning, and Laura doesn't trend any more east, then perhaps traveling east towards Baton Rouge or Gonzales would be closer? Being somewhere with AC is huge, IMO.
