You could do shiplap with 1/4 ripped plywood and do it for cheap.

I recently redid a bathroom and tiled up the wall about 3 feet with subway tile, floor to ceiling subway in the open shower, and put shiplap on the wall behind the sink and mirror, with sheetrock on the remaining half walls. Looks good.

It’s called a guest bathroom, powder room, or half bath. The words kitchen and bathroom simply should never go together.

That looks nice. We actually have that same mirror. It was a vanity in our old house. What are those floors?

I'm thinking of doing something similar in our laundry room.

If you take a picture at an angle next time, you won’t catch yourself in the mirror

Our bathroom dining table could use an update, as well.

Nobody thought that was funny, huh? This picture was on realtor.com a few years ago. A house for sale in Lafayette. I thought it was hilarious to have a table and chairs in the bathroom.

it was like a damn speakeasy during the initial lockdown. Old ladies were willing to pay triple just to sneak over and get their hair done.

And for the record what happens in the wife's salon stays in her salon. It's not my business.

Quick question. I'm about to gut my bathrooms. How long can you plug that toilet drain hole with rags?

As long as you want. A dedicated plug is pretty cheap though. He should be happy it's a solid PVC closet flange and not a two-part job. Nothing turns a simple toilet change out into an all day ordeal like a broken pvc toilet flange.

Here is all I can guess based on the picture. There’s a rug in there. Nobody is using that tub or it would ruin the rug. There seems to be perfumes and things on the table.

All I can guess is: it was an elderly lady who lived there. She would sit at the table while someone would fix her hair and makeup for the day while she had her coffee.

i was going to change the basement toliet out as well (why not? since i'm already doing 1 it will probably be easy to do 2..)

but the basement toliet sits in a room that has a sump pump in the closet next to it. when i went to pull it up i discovered it actually has 4 bolts holding it to the floor AND rear wall and apparently it drains from the back and not from underneath. after looking up the rube goldberg device that keeps this thing working properly and seeing that you cant even buy the same type toliet anymore i decided perhaps a new seat and replacing the tank flusher parts was a better way to go.

Shut off valve doesn't work.

We have a toilet next to the kitchen in the laundry room that I need to replace. I have the new toilet sitting in the garage right now and my shut off valve doesn't work.

i had that same issue

youtube

i dont have a whole-house water shut-off so i have to use the big T at the street.

i have copper pipes so its a little tricky to swap it out because its a compression fitting and if you just screw a new one onto it, its likely to leak because it will screw into the old grooves in the copper. you may need a pipe cutter to cut off the tip of the copper pipe so the compression nut will...compress it properly.

make sure your wife is next to the new valve and within shouting distance when you turn the water back on in case it leaks.
