Activists call for highways to be torn down

quote:

Now, as the nation reckons with other racist aspects of its past — with protests, in several prominent instances, on ’60s-era freeways much like the Claiborne — Shelly and other advocates around the country are intensifying their calls for city and state governments to remove the highways that destroyed Black neighborhoods.

quote:

Race usually has been a subtext in these conversations. But in the current climate, advocates say it’s time for cities to confront and resolve the racist planning decisions their predecessors made 60 years ago.

“It gives us more ammunition,” Stelly said. “Because when you look at how these things have developed in their totality, they’re absolutely racist.”

Yeah good luck with that.

Try tearing down I-10 between Dalrymple and Perkins, which separates good and bad areas, and you’ll get an 18 wheeler up your arse because traffic is bad enough there already.

Do these elevated highways bisect neighborhoods strengthening divides between them? Yes.

Were these highways purposefully routed through black neighborhoods because the cost to imminent domain property in poor neighborhoods was lower than in affluent neighborhoods? Yes.

Are elevated highways more of a divider than surface level highways? Absolutely NOT!

The people who are pushing this are communists. They seek to make government giant, expensive, and defeat economic growth and infrastructure improvement wherever they can so government will collapse and be replaced by authoritarian communism which they wrongfully believe they'll get to be in charge of.

The same kinds of people who want to remove these elevated highways oppose every highway project, every bridge, every factory, every chemical plant, every power plant, every urban renewal project, every shopping center, etc. They are opposed to anything that might generate economic activity or employ people because they want everyone dependent on the government.

It's hilarious how every single one of their causes is designed to destroy every advancement of society from roads to education.

The only argument I would even consider against it would be from a perspective of anti eminent domain.

And that would be before it was built, not 60 years after.

Interstates were inspired by the nazi's infrastructure projects, therefore interstates are literal nazis
