There's no reason for there to be 20k-25k test per day. If you haven't been admitted to the hospital, then don't get tested. The really sick people need their test results quicker.

I know it's not really possible for everyone to avoid test. I had to get one because someone that tested positive at work asked me a question at my desk the previous week. My work wouldn't let me back into the office without a negative test.

What will JBE do if there are only 3k test done a day and 600 come back positive? That's a 20% positive rate, double the "acceptable" rate. But that's also less than one third of the number of current cases per day. We'd still have the 20 or so hospitalizations per day and the vent numbers wouldn't change.

Common sense

JBE wants his trophy for most testing per capita for the country

When my engine warning light came on I fixed it by putting a piece of duct tape over it. No more engine problem.

Getting tested if you don’t have symptoms is retarded. It serves zero purpose but allows for false positives

He gets federal money for testing like that. Has nothing to do with our health and safety.

Nobody uses duct tape for an engine light, they use electrical tape. The black blends in better than the silver.

Did you put tape over it before the light came on? Engine running fine? Temperature gauge right in the middle where it should be?

Haven’t you people seen the commercials though??? They tell me that Louisiana’s response to the Coronavirus has been exceptional. In fact, we’ve been “held up to the WORLD as a model of innovation and cooperation!!!!”

Unfortunately, there are plenty of idiots or just selfish people in this state who will not self quarantine if they know they are exposed to someone with COVID or if they have symptoms. If they get tested and come back positive, they are more likely to self quarantine. The more tests available and the easier you make it, the more likely these people will get tested.

Sounds like you have a symptom of being sick and are ignoring it. I think you are in the wrong thread.

But they aren't self-quarantining until they get their results, which in my case took 6 days. So either they aren't sick, and the test is pointless, or they are sick and have been spreading it for a week and are half-way to recovery.

Even if you think you have it, if the symptoms aren’t bad why get tested? There is no treatment.

Doctor on the news just said there's a shortage of rapid-response tests in Louisiana. Don't get tested if you don't have any symptoms!!!

I love that four douche bags (so far) downvoted your thoughts. They are so riddled with liberalism that you better get tested or you're criminal... There are Happy Meals to be had! go get test for no good reason! false positives for everyone...reeeeeeeee!!!!!!

I boycotted testing a lot throughout college. It's why I specialized in the 5 and a half year bachelors degree from LSU.

Unfortunately, I get swab tested each week. My employment has sent in over 350 tests in the past 5 weeks. All Negative. Someone thinks testing all Nursing Home Employees is a good indicator. We have stopped testing all the patients since no positives. We have all been consistently negative. Now the testing is taking longer to get results. The lab is swamped.

I agree. I don’t want people knowing they are positive and doing anything to prevent spreading the disease. That would be stupid.

I’m just here to gripe about people’s inability to pluralize the word “test.”

I see zero point in getting tested if you don't have symptoms. And BTW I work in healthcare.

Hell, what's even the point? I don't have it when I get tested, doesn't mean I can't get it. Someone could sneeze on you on the way home. You could handle the wrong box of cereal, 5 minutes after someone else does. Etc.

Keep living your life, take necessary steps if you get sick. It's just that simple.

So check this out. This may or may not be a true story from someone who works in home health. Thanks to JBE’s testing quota, a home health agency is having problems with timely test results. So in order to help this, they recently gave 2 tests to a patient and sent 1 test to lab A, one to lab B. This hypothetical patient is waiting for these results to get released and enter an assisted living facility that requires a neg test. Well, lab A’s test comes back first....NEG. Cool, the facility comes and picks up the patient and now he’s there.
The next day, lab B’s test comes back...POS. LOL. They call the facility to let them know and their response?...... “oh well, he’s here now & has no symptoms. I’m gonna pretend you didn’t tell me that. These tests are always wrong anyway”
