I was helping my friend clean out his grandparent’s house after, you know... (don’t ever volunteer for this)

I came across this thing in the attic and he said I could just have it.

I’m positive it’s some sort of “training tool” for Morse code, based on the placard at the bottom left. I’ve done some googling and I can’t seem to find anything to indicate where it’s from, what year, etc.

Any help would be cool. TIA.

You can do a continuity test to see it still works. Nice find.

There’s a clue as to its use on the device.

There’s a handle. That means it’s portable. Field telegraph of some sort?

From googling, it looks like it’s WWII era and everything I see is from British websites. Maybe it’s a British Morse code training tool?

Your friend's grandfather was a spy. While the family was sitting around the radio listening to Lawrence Well, he was communicating with Spain. It's the only possibility.

That’s a “practice key” for learning/practicing Morse code.

That's cool as shite. I'd clean it up and find a way to use it.

Too bad you didn't find a second one. You could run the wire to your kid's room and send them messages that they would have to decode.

That's a total dad/son memory in the making.

It could be a nice addition to your sex dungeon, if you have one. Electricity just adds another level to all that crazy shite people like you are into.
