I don’t get the fight against masks. I want to open society up, and wearing masks is the way to get us there. The same people who said this was just the flu have stopped with that idiocy, but now they are out saying masks do not work. It is insane. Upvote if you are MAGA and pro-mask. Downvote if you are MAGA and anti-mask requirements.

MAGA and pro masks by choice. I think it’s silly to think you’re tough for not wearing a mask. But it’s unconstitutional to require it with enforcement by a government entity

The “work/don’t work” argument is a distraction. The real debate is whether we should be trying to prevent the virus from running its eventual course.

But Fauci said they weren’t “that” effective. Which is it?

If I have the Rona, and considering masks are so awesome, why can’t I wander about freely since masks prevent the spread and all.

I’m for citizens to wear masks if they want and for businesses to require masks if they want.

The issue is not “pro mask”, it’s “pro mask mandates” which are bullshite and just latest lefty virtue signal. They paint the Trump supporters as “anti mask” when people question why there is all of the sudden a big push for everyone to wear them after it not being an issue at all for the first three months of the “pandemic”. And not only was it not an issue, they explicitly mocked and told people not to wear masks.

They have chosen masks because they know it is impossible to be 100% compliant, so it is just the latest excuse to keep things shut down.

Not wearing masks is a scapegoat for current trends which would’ve happened no matter what % of the population worse random dirty pieces of cotton on their mouths.

frick you OP for falling into the left/media trap

You would have to prove that wearing masks actually works in a non healthcare setting for folks that are in no way symptomatic. Otherwise, wearing a mask as a means to “open” the economy is simple capitulation to leftist induced concepts not supported by science or at least the support is conflicting.

Wear a mask at hospital - yes. Wearing a mask at Home Depot - no thanks.

Agree with all of the above, but if businesses and schools want to require it, that's fine. I don't necessarily have an issue with a mandate from a local government, but it's just not reasonably enforceable.

Ditto.

Laws and fines are asinine.
Denying that a mask is a cheap option that can provide some protection is asinine.

Let private businesses manage their own locations.
Let adults make adult decisions for themselves.

I think it's silly to think a cloth over people's mouths do nothing but provide a sense of false security.

I've seen this daily now, maskers in store touching the same products, card readers, money, door handles, etc. and then touch their face and mouth area to pull their mask off as they walk outside.

At least if you are going to do this, do it correctly.

I only wear a mask where required by business or law. But I think this virus is a joke.

Also denying that masks present added risks is asinine. If it saves one life by having people not wear masks, shouldn't we do it?

Let me guess, you think someone who says:

quote:

We know that wearing a mask outside health care facilities offers little, if any, protection from infection.

is spewing idiocy right?

Now for the full quote:

quote:

We know that wearing a mask outside health care facilities offers little, if any, protection from infection. Public health authorities define a significant exposure to Covid-19 as face-to-face contact within 6 feet with a patient with symptomatic Covid-19 that is sustained for at least a few minutes (and some say more than 10 minutes or even 30 minutes). The chance of catching Covid-19 from a passing interaction in a public space is therefore minimal. In many cases, the desire for widespread masking is a reflexive reaction to anxiety over the pandemic.

Oh, and a link - New England Journal of Medicine, what a bunch of rubes...

I’m pro-mask if it gives government the cover to keep things open.

People purposely not complying at businesses that can be fined are assholes.

The mask defiance is conservatives version of "there's no such thing as racism against whites."

It's a silly battle to pick and makes them look retarded to moderates. Even Trump says he has no problems with masks.

I wear a mask to be kind to others and mainly for the benefit of grandma at the grocery store.

Plus, I don’t have to fake smile at everyone any longer.

It won't "open up" until November and you take that to the bank.
When the mask stuff dies, the next big hype will be started.
