This actually showing at my local drive in about a mile from my house. If I didn't have to work so early I would go.

As soon as we get home, the first thing I'm gonna do is punch your momma in the mouth.
I love this movie. And now I'm gonna have Eastbound and Down in my head for the rest of the day.![](https://images.tigerdroppings.com/Images/Icons/IconLOL.gif)

At what point did you realize that the truck driver, Cledus, is Coach Red Beaulieu from The Waterboy?

When the 18 wheeler tears the door off and Buford tells his son to put in the evidence in the car, I lose it every time.

Jackie Gleason was wonderful. I can still hear my grandfather laughing at this movie

While Jackie Gleason gets a ton of very deserved credit for his role that movie was loaded with talent. Everyone was perfect for their role and pulled the part off.
One of my favorite behind the scenes stories comes from that movie. Gleason and Reynolds were sitting back after filming one day in some lawn chairs while they tossed down some adult beverages. Gleason leans too far back in his chair and proceeds to fall over into a ditch. A couple of seconds later he walks back up holding his glass and proudly proclaims "didn't spill a drop of it."

The first movie I saw in a theater. Hot Springs AR, summer of ‘77.
My grandma took us thinking it was about Smokey the bear and animated. Yeah we didn’t last the whole movie and it was a decade or so before I finally saw and understood it.
A true American classic.
And people really did made runs for Coors back in the day.

I watched a documentary on the making of that movie and they said Gleason's lines were about 99% ad-lib. Dude was funny as hell. I forget how many cars they went through.

I have to watch it every time I see it on. Jackie makes the movie, period.

Watch the second one as well. The third one has some funny moments, but it really loses something by lacking Burt in it.
