Look for Imaginaryitis to be used as impetus for the push for a cash-free society. Our overlords really want every transaction to be electronic.

Mints slowed down or stopped production because of Covid. Back up and running now.

John clayton from ESPN is collecting quarters in a 55 gallon drum. Why don’t we just do away with pennies and round prices to the nearest 0.05 cent. Cashiers can’t count most of the time.

The government is slowly taking them away to move us towards a cashless society to ease the transition to a one world government.

Either that or check between the couch cushions.

Several factors. Retail deposits slowed almost stopped for months. Retail opened back up and requested coin but hadn’t deposited what they had. Mint couldn’t keep up.

Get accustomed to it. This will likely keep going for a couple months is the latest I’ve heard.

I don't know the reason and couldn't get a good answer, but I always get a roll of quarters at the Brookshires grocery store and they have not been able to give them the last 2 months. They said the bank is restricting their coin availability. No reasons why.

Sure it's a combination of things.

I would guess that a lot of people who usually carry change around with them and try to spend it don't want to handle it right now.

So, they just dump it into a jar when they get home but don't take any back out with them.

A lot of people do that anyway but I am sure there are a ton of people just doing it now due to Covid.

The government wants to implement a digital dollar and they want to get rid of cash/coins.
