re: Before all this woke stuff started several years ago, didn’t race relations seem good?

Nearly every black person I come into close contact with in public, especially those over 40 or so make eye contact and small talk. This is all media generated bullshite.

Overall who knows, it does depend on the individual person. There are whites and blacks who truly really like you for who you are. Racism though, there will always be that, if Earth is still populated 1,000 years from now, we may all look alike by then, but there will be at least something different, and there will still be prejudice and racism.
As far as other comments about Obama, I don't think he hurt or helped race relations. There are issues in different communities, much is media driven, some is true racism in some small towns and large cities, and much like others have said is social media driven.

thinking about it, it seems these extreme groups started organizing when Obama became president. I don’t know if it’s a coincidence, but there was a lot more organized protesting and rioting under Obama than any time in my lifetime.
I have trouble believing a community agitator would promote this kind of behavior

Nope. Grew up with 3 siblings in a modest 3/2 ranch style home. Shared a bedroom with my 2 brothers, and wore hand me downs from my big brother most of my childhood. Was the only one in my circle of friends, 3 of whom were black, that didn't a car when I turned 16.

My car doors lock automatically when I put the car in Drive, so nope again.

I guess. It's a 2005 and auto locking doors have been around since the early 90's.
It is a privilege to be able to afford a car though.

True, some say it's a privilege to be able to walk, see, or hear. We all have many privileges we should be thankful for.

It’s not privilege it’s called reality. You want better in life then go out and work hard for it. There is no invisible hand keeping anyone down, what a crock of bullshite. Be disciplined and work hard at your endeavors and success will come.

It was a mostly sarcastic post

The black people who are in my neighborhood are cool. I have had wonderful experiences with AA the last several years. The black people want to be respected and the folks that I have encountered in the hospital or at my work have respect for others and themselves.
Not every person is a thug or a rapper. Some just trying to get along. Every now and then you find a black lady who has drama all up in her arse. The victim mentality. But that goes for a lot of us-regardless of color or wealth.
I think the media is pushing a fear relationship that really doesn’t exist in great numbers. All to push trump out of office.

Well you can thank our first bi-racial president that was supposed to unify the country. Did that work?

That seems to be the case. Things are not as bad as they are being portrayed.

Part of this is true but it's not the only reason.

Spend some time reading and listening to guys like John McWhorther and Glenn Loury. They’re black Ivy League Professors who would disagree with you.
What we are seeing right now from the far left authoritarian sect is a religious movement. There is a need for police reform, but to act as if blacks walk around all day in fear is a figment if the imagination.

They still are amongst every day people. You are explaining radicals on both sides.

But this fallacy is spread by entertainers like Lebron.
Do those who say these things think the people they are telling it to are stupid

Something happened in 2008 that was supposed to be awesome for all that, then every media outlet started telling me I was racist for existing within a few years.
At the time, I was told the election of a black president was a huge deal.
But now it seems an inconvenient footnote bc it contradicts the oppression narrative.

If that's all you judge race relations on then of course you'll think nothing is wrong.

It all started with George, Trayvon, and Obama stoking that fire.

In southern rural Louisiana you wouldn't know this type of behavior even exists unless you turn on the news
