Hell, I had to be tested for the Corona virus just to have a colonoscopy. Had to have the test within 72 hours of the procedure and had it been positive I could not have the procedure. That seems to be the latest trend in medicine concerning the virus. I guess it makes sense but damn I hate that swab tickling my brain!

It appears to me the reason you started this thread is to announce you and your wife are about to have a baby.

If you and she are required to be tested, get tested.

What’s the big deal?

And, congratulations!

This is so the biological father can come in and witness the birth of his child.

Our first baby was born a couple of months ago at EJ. It was a scheduled C section. She had been tested the day prior. We got our temperature checked upon arrival the next morning. Both of us were required to stay in hospital for our duration, no leaving and no visitors. Honestly, looking back, I was relieved to not have any visitors because it is very stressful to keep baby calm and sleeping with the constant interruptions by hospital workers. Not passing blame just admitting that added interruption would have caused me to lose my mind.

Baby girl was born 4/30.

They did temp checks and questions. Wore masks most the time. But no testing.

Policy is gonna change and change back all the time right now. I wouldn't worry about it. Just don't hang around people that are hanging around a bunch of people.

Eh. I mean what will be will be. It wasn't that long ago us dad's weren't in the delivery room and babies were kept in the nursery.

Just make sure they give you a pillow. I had to use a polo stuffed with a towel for the first two nights.

It's going to be okay snowflakes. A simple test and may have to wear a mask.

I don't understand all the melting

I know I’m selfish, but it was great not having to share those few days with anyone but mommy and baby. Those memories are going to be extra special not all cloudy with being annoyed by other people. MIL was supposed to be in delivery room. Hate she didn’t get to experience that for both her sake and my wife’s, but, like I said, I’m selfish.

My doctor said they’re just screening everyone at the door (temp checks & asking the questions). I’m not looking forward to laboring in a mask.

This is such a weird thing and I'm glad my wife was against it. The birth of your child is a special moment that only the parents should be there for imo.

ETA: The no visitors thing made for a much more relaxed experience this go round. We really got to bond with this one instead of entertaing the dozens of family and friends that came by for our first. Wish we could do that one over.

Obviously the best solution is to pose the question to a sports message board rather than calling the hospital and asking.

No way they make you do this. I had a baby two weeks ago. Breathing clearly is kind of important when you’re birthing a human.

Not sure if they’d have asked me to test if I’d been induced or had a section, but I went on my own and neither I nor my husband was asked to.

He wasn’t allowed to leave the hospital like he did for our other kids. And anytime not in our room we had to wear a mask. But I arrived at midnight in active labor and no one bothered me about it in the hall or the early labor evaluation area.

Screening questions and temperature check are likely.

I don’t think testing is a requirement right now.

Source: attended after the baby comes class from Woman’s on Saturday.

They had my wife do it in the mask.

Honestly I can't wait for 15-20 years from now and seeing Greys and lizard people replaced with bird aliens.
