Woman’s Hospital requiring parents to test for COVID-19 prior to delivery?

My wife was told by her doctor that we will both be tested when she goes in for delivery and if I’m positive, I will be removed from the hospital.
She then heard from a friend who just had a baby last month and was told that the testing was optional, not required.
Anyone know for sure if the test is required?

When your wife is in labor the baby will be out before the hoax results come back.

She probably needs to call the admit desk at the hospital

I know the hospitals around me all require that both parents will have to be tested.

Check and make sure the baby is the same race as you.

Sounds right to me. What's the issue?

I just don’t want to miss the birth of my child.

If the doctor told her test was required, why are you asking here?

The doctor didn’t tell her it was required, she insinuated it. What made us question it was when she heard from someone else who was told AFTER they tested that they weren’t required to test in the first place.

The rules could have changed in the past month.

Well isolate until it's time. Don't be out in groups like you see everyone else. I work in healthcare and test people daily. The numbers are about to explode with healthier people with milder symptoms.

You called all the hospitals around you to find that out?

Sounds about right.
My hospital tests every woman that comes here to deliver their baby. And all staff wear full PPE including an N95 for the second stage of labor just in case things go south and any aerosolizing treatments have to be done (intubation, chest compressions, etc) to save mother and baby.
Not sure about the designated support person though. I think they make that person wear a mask at all times

If they begin to escort you off the grounds, quickly stab yourself. With that oath..They'll be forced to admit you.

My friend is due at the end of September, and her doctor said both parents need to quarantine for 14 days prior to delivery.
**ETA they’re delivering at Woman’s

There are different groups of doctors that practice out of Women’s. Maybe it’s the practice’s policy and not the hospital.

When is she due?
Well she’s due later in the summer but there have been some issues that have come up recently that may result in them inducing early to ensure the baby’s health. We may be inducing at some point in the next couple weeks.

Is there a reason you wouldn't want to be tested?
