But yea. If the dude takes off and there’s a non pursuit policy I’d assume there’s some coverage. I don’t recall seeing major lawsuits from disengaging from a vehicular pursuit.

Probably because the pursuit is the risk and they mitigate it by calling it off. Further driving in this case increases the risk which they mitigate by arresting him.

Hardly drunk? He was so fricked up he passed out twice in the drive through lines.

Every single YouTube video covering this has a widening like dislike ratio.

So the DA went for the home run ball and over billed the case.

The officer will walk

He’s literally on foot and they have possession of his car in this example. Further driving is pretty low in the immediate risks.

Could he steal a car? Sure. Could he get a friend to pick him up and let him drive? I guess so.

But...

Could the officer get killed in the fight? Yup. Could an innocent bystander catch a bullet? Sure thing. Let’s not pretend the current system is without risk. In fact, in this case pursuit might be the riskier approach for officers, the public at large, and the suspect.

Only if they tow it and impound it. I do agree that the current system has risk too. I'm just saying it isn't as simple as just saying stand down. Police now are in a no win situation.

Every cop in America should walk.

Well accept for some areas that are reasonable I agree.

Police reforms needed are not because of race including both of these cases. Stats have shown more whites killed and proportion of blacks is in proportion of arrests including violent offenses. That so many are bending the knee to BLM along with the slow roll of protests and violence including by leftists in Europe after policeman already fired, arrested, and charged versus all happening around time of event is more proof of politics involved. This has been everything past few years on steroids that were just waiting for the best visual regardless of facts to take advantage of many communities already on the brink and people stressed with Wuhan and economy. It also doesn't help that fed unemployment is overpaying many by not taking into account prior earnings.

So what happens when the cops go to his home and are met by live rounds through their windshields? Or, is your solution to just let him off because it’s just a DWI?

I mean, it seems a bit ridiculous that they should just let the guy flee with the police officers weapon.

The Fulton County DA is crooked as shite, under investigation, and is trailing one of his former prosecutors in the Dem primary.

That opponent is a black female, so he can’t play the race card. His only hope is to inflame the situation and hope to rally a vast majority of the black democratic base

Just got this email from an Atlanta police officer:

No way this cop is convicted of any of those charges. The so called victim BROKE THE LAW.... there IS A REASON the cops were called in the 1st place. Now when this officer does walk..... ATLATA will look a lot like L.A. back after the Rodney King verdict.
