Shams Charania on potential Bradley Beal trade: The Heat were a team that had interest. The Heat, the Lakers, New Orleans… Those are teams that I’ve heard.

Personally, I’m not seeing the fit if Zion and Ingram are you’re 1,2 scoring options.

Not a fan of the cost to acquire either

Would rather keep Ingram and assets vs flipping them

Pretty sure we arent interested but we are the lazy plug in due to having a giant war chest

We'll have to give up a whole helluva lot to get Beal in a trade. I think everybody but Zion and Ingram would be available for him.

I think they'll try to ask for Jaxson Hayes in the trade and I wouldnt want to part with his potential.

Depending on who else is involved. I love Jax and his potential but if you have a chance to get beal, Jax won't be the reason for the deal to fall through lol

How many years does Beal have left on his contract? This offseason could be the year to sign new guys to contracts. Especially with the cap projected to be much smaller.

Beal wants to stay in DC anyway.

If you're thinking good players, it could also be the offseason those good players take smaller term deals waiting for the cap to spike again before signing long term.

Beal has 2 guaranteed years left. We certainly wouldn't be able to get a player as good as Beal in free agency. And we may not even be able to land a good player for more than 2 years depending on what the cap situation looks like.

As with anything, it depends on the deal, but a lot of players around the league consider Beal in the borderline elite company of players, just on a spectacularly shitty team.

Put him in a Ball/Beal/Ingram/Zion/? lineup and you've got some ridiculous firepower.

The Pelicans would need that firepower with how putrid the defense will be. We're bad enough on that end with Jrue. Imagine replacing his defense with the black hole on defense that is Beal.

I'm ok with it.

Defense barely even matters any more, to be honest.

I'm all for getting him, but i'm not trading Jrue for him, and i really don't want to trade Lonzo either, which is something i never thought i'd say, but i really like how Lonzo and Zion play together, although i would not be upset in the least bit if Lonzo had to be part of the deal to get Beal. I obviously am not trading Ingram and Zion.

That being said, i don't see a way to get him unless we win the lottery again.

A lineup with Jrue/Beal/Ingram/Zion is really good, 2 veterans in their prime and 2 rising stars. Stagger the minutes between Beal and Ingram so they can each have time to get in a groove scoring. Beal's defense hasn't been great lately, but i think that's more b/c his team sucks.
That lineup still lacks a prototypical 3/4 that can guard guys like Lebron/Durant/Kawhi/PG, even though i'll take Jrue guarding anyone anyday over most any 3/4 in the league.

and a reminder, the Twolves traded the 7th pick and Zach Lavine to get Jimmy Butler and the 16th pick, which was considered a steal by the TWolves at that time.

yet every championship caliber team plays good defense. Defense does matter, especially come playoff time

I would like someone who fits the Zion timeline a little better.

I'm not a Jrue fan to a certain degree, I think that is fairly well known. I think Beal is a much better player. I'd trade Jrue for him in a heartbeat.

The problem is it would take MUCH more than Jrue to get Beal.

Spoken like a true Rocketard. C'mon Bunch, you're better than that.

You're not winning a championship unless you can play top 10 defense. Just b/c the Warriors are great on offense, doesn't mean they aren't an elite defensive team.

Beal is a better offensive player without a doubt, and Jrue is a better defensive player without a doubt. Which one makes us better?
I do think we need another elite scorer to help out Ingram, and we don't have that. Zion seems to score his 20 points no matter what. you can game plan the offense around him or not, and he's scoring 20 for you.

I like the idea of having Beal and Jrue, trading Lonzo, b/c it allows Jrue to really take a back seat and focus on defense, and that's what he wants to do.
I also would be more inclined to trade Lonzo b/c i don't want to deal with resigning him when we'll have $30M+ a year going to Ingram and Beal, with Zion coming behind them to get that money too. I think Jrue would take a discount to stay here after his contract is up, especially if he's truly the 4th best player on the team.

its an overstatement on my part.

Defense does matter.

But if you're giving me the choice between an elite offensive player or an elite defensive player, I'm taking the offense most of the time. That's just the way it is, and not to go full Boomtard, I've heard a lot of smart NBA guys echo that sentiment.

I think Beal is that much better offensively to make up for the difference in Defense.

IF we had a scorer at PG instead of Lonzo, I would say keep Jrue. But next to Lonzo, we need Offense.

But would you rather Beal and Lonzo to play with Ingram and Zion, or would you rather Beal and Jrue to play with Ingram and Zion. You got all the offense you need with Beal and Ingram. Zion will do his thing. 4th guy is either Lonzo or Jrue. I don't think it's a discussion on who i'd rather between Lonzo and Jrue to be my 4th best player. Jrue has shot 41% on corner 3's the last 2 years. He would basically be our Bruce Bowen but much better offensively.

I'm going under the assumption one of Jrue or Lonzo has to be traded to get Beal.
