This thing escalated quickly

It did. As soon as Katrin and a few others posted on IG about it, other athletes and affiliates started to comment and disassociate with HQ.

It almost seems like most of these people were looking for any reason to disassociate with CrossFit.

Noah Olsen and Chandler Smith are done

They've been bleeding affiliates the last couple of years. Seems like this was another tinder box waiting to turn into a flash fire.

I agree. I think Glassman and HQ pissed a lot of people off last year with laying off a bunch of well known/liked people. Plus adjusting the games to allow more athletes that may have not really deserved a spot at the games.

Noah says he’s out unless someone deep dicks Assman.

I don't keep up with it that much, but everyone deep in the crossfit game seems like whiny little bitches and morons. This Glassman guy is always saying dumb shite and Castro is one of the biggest douchebags I've ever seen.
I saw Hunter McIntyre's, the obstacle course guy, Murph deal this year and traced that back to him getting a wildcard at the crossfit games last year. I've never seen so man limp wrist pussies melt over a world class athlete getting a chance to compete.
The crossfit brand brought value 5 years ago, but a lot of these gyms have been around a decade now and established themselves. I wouldn't be surprised to see a bunch jump ship and just become "regular" gyms with nothing changing except saving on a franchise fee. One of the big players in the space like Rogue can put on a competition with the best athletes without the Crossfit brand easily.

I’ve thought for the past couple years that Crossfit was headed towards a professional golf model. You’ll have the PGA tour (Nike grid games) you’ll have the rogue invitational (US open) you’ll have the Dubai deal (British open?) and then you’ll have some sort of masters (traditionally Crossfit games, something else will fit here, maybe the olympics?)

That started 3 years ago or so
This will bury it
They have the model, they have the popularity. The branding power was already starting to fade

Invictus just cut ties
CrossFit is dead now as we know it
The circuit of sanctioned events which won’t even be CrossFit is going to take off and Rogue will just be the super bowl

I really don’t understand how this tweet was so catastrophic. It was just so vague, means almost nothing. I took his tweet to be agreeing with the tweet on racism being a problem.

Less about the tweet and more about using any excuse to get away from Glassman and the cf hq. Most gyms were already on the ledge as hq wasn't really providing any benefit at all.
Most of the top athletes despised the new competition model which put so many into the games from foreign countries over better Americans. Most also despise Castro.
Firing a bunch of well liked people pissed a bunch off too.
There is no reason to stay. The tweet isn't bad or truly even wrong, but it's a sensitive topic and if your company is on the ledge you sure as frick shouldn't be tweeting anything.
CF is done, they were done within 10 years anyways, this just sealed it.

Yeah. I just heard about this at my class.
Sounds like CrossFit is done. The YMCA is likely disenfranchising soon.

In what would have to be the final death blow, Rogue dropped them.

my buddy who owns a "crossfit" gym but has never paid the fee for affiliation is so happy right now
he basically gets zero walk-in clients because he can't advertise that they do crossfit programming
