My wife has a S&W 38 special that she got when her Father passed away. Due to the current events we are thinking about CC permits, but I think this may be to big for her. I have a 9MM Taurus, but it is to big also.

My SIL got a Glock single stack. I can’t remember the model offhand. She liked it better than my wife’s baby Glock.

I wouldn't carry a taurus. Go to a range and let her rent a bunch of shite and buy what she can shoot best. Buy something that will make training seem like less of a chore.

Best advice is take her to the range and let her shoot different guns then let her decide. She needs to be comfortable with what she carries.

My wife carries a Ruger LCR .357. She like the bigger grip than on the Smith .38’s. Make her go to the range with you every few months and shoot.

S&W M&P 380 is what my wife has. Can remember if it’s the shield or shield 2.0. Big enough to get the job done, but not too big to handle. She was pretty confident with it after 30 minutes or so.

Best way to search something is not to use the search feature on this site.

Instead do a google search for whatever you are looking for followed by the word “tigerdroppings”

Example: gun for wife tigerdroppings

Oh and I recommend 9 mm caliber.

There are tons of options in this caliber. Bring her to a gun shop and let her handle a few to see which feels most comfortable in her hand. After you have narrowed it down then you can do some searching and get further feed back on those particular weapons to narrow it down further.

My wife has a Glock 42 that she likes. It is a little bigger than most of the small pocket pistol .380 but she likes it and shoots it well. Hopefully the day never comes but I would not want to be the guy/gal that meets her when she’d decides it is go time.

Snub 38s are not enjoyable to shoot and beat the hell out of novice shooters.

Start her on some variation of full sized 9mm from a respected manufacturer. When she gets the mechanics down she can step up to a smaller carry gun. The full sized gun will be infinitely easier to shoot.

I have yet to have a student come to one of my CC classes and not be able to handle some variation of full sized 9mm. They are very user friendly and easy to handle.

The Hellcat is a good choice as is the Glock 43 but, the 43X is an excellent handgun. Bring her to choose between several.

Second vote for Glock 48. Wife tried a number of different brands models, went back to the 48.

I don't know that my wife would actually carry a concealed weapon. The main reason we both want them is we travel the country in our motorhome. I have read it is better to have a CC permit just in case we are stopped and searched. I have always carried one (except when we went to Canada) and I have only pulled it out of the bedroom at one campground in 10 years of RV'ing.
