They are playing.

They both know next CBA, upcoming, they will be on strike, no bones about it. So best to make some cash this season and next, heading into a lockdown.

3 of the 4 sports could be on strike with next CBA. NFLPA has already stated, they aren't giving up any more, the Owners have raped and pillaged them in last 4-5 CBA's.

NHLPA has claimed they are digging in, with next CBA.

MLBPA has also claimed this next cba is the biggie for them to gain a little power back, digging in.

I would rather just get the strike on now and get it over with. Just scrap this season and see how it goes.

most MLB players make less than their worth for most their career or at least a health chunk for their time in the big leagues.

Good teams are built on cheap contracts these days

MLB expected make 72-game proposal today to players for more than 80 percent of prorated pay if there’s a postseason. MLB also expected to significantly raise the percent from 50% in the event the postseason has to be canceled

MLB has removed the tiered pay system it originally proposed, and raised the % of pay, especially in the event the postseason has to be canceled. But the changes have been incremental, there’s no confidence players will accept and no evidence they’ll move off full prorated pay.

The owners will always win collective bargaining negotiations in the NFL.

The NFLPA has an inherent numbers disadvantage in terms of its cohesion as a group. A byproduct of football as a sport is that there are far more players in football as compared to the other sports, especially basketball. Plus, the average career of an NFL player is shorter. What that means is that it's harder to keep 2000 active players and 3000 "former" players in line and on message, especially in the era of social media.

Also, NFL salaries arent as high as other sports given the nature of how contracts are structured with incentive money, so players get antsy when they start staring at the prospect of losing game checks and pressure the NFLPA to make a deal. We saw that on display during the 2011 collective bargaining session and ensuing lockout that extended until late July.

MLB lands billion-dollar deal with Turner Sports to broadcast playoffs

By Andrew Marchand

?
While MLB and the Players Association squabble over money and the 2020 season, the league has consummated a new billion-dollar deal with Turner Sports to keep a playoff package that includes one of the league championship series on the network, The Post has learned.
The exact new contract terms are not yet known, but a substantial increase from the $350 million per season that Turner had been paying is expected, according to sources.  There had been talks in the $500 million per year range, according to sources. The length of the new contract is not yet known. Turner’s current deal ends after the 2021 season.

The NFLPA just agreed to a 11 year CBA. 99% of current NFL players will not be in the league when the neXt CBA comes up in 2031.

The Major League Baseball Players Association has rejected MLB's latest proposal and will not counter, sources tell ESPN. In a letter to the league, the union asked MLB to inform it of how many games it intends to play and when players should report.

So if they’re asking when to report it seems they’re starting to feel heat like the NFLPA does.

I understand that they want to protect selves in future but the union was in no win and they will be forced to play. Either by hook or crook.

If it’s 82 it should be 51%. If they don’t like it..get scans and move on. Tony Clark is no Donald Fehr and won’t hold the MLBPA together

82 is 51% of games. They’ve both proposed ridiculous scenarios, so just cut to the chase and move on.
