honest discussion
This isn't possible. Many people don't want the truth.

As a white guy... I don’t know what to do.. I treat people the same, I raise my kids to view a mans character and I’m still thrown into this white man bad group.. I did grow up in a privileged life but many of my friends didn’t.. what discussion do we need to have is the question

You're neighbor isn't going to want to sit down and chat after you burn his fricking house down. The time for your honest discussion ended the moment you destroyed what was mine

The solution is trust. And it starts at home. Quit blaming your situation on someone else. Really try to stop crime being committed by your children. Be involved in their lives.
Quit spreading your negative views on others.

Sounds good, until I read through the thread and it's literally just another "discussion" on Tigerdroppings explaining and alluding to all the problems that black people have and what they need to do to fix it.
It's been said twice already and i'll echo it a third time. People don't want an honest discussion, they just want the other side to sit down while they point their finger in their face telling them what to do.
If you want to talk to me, then talk to me, but just know I probably have about as much interest in being lectured and read stats as you do.

While we’re having a frank discussion on race: my dad says he wants his lawnmower back

Yep, liberal progressives definitely don't want to discussion freeing blacks from the Democrat welfare plantation. Most poverty and crime is associated with single parent households. The government has got to stop paying baby mommas to have children.

Until we can all call out white trash and black trash equally; until we can say all lives matter; until we all look at individual and their actions first And only bring in race when it's proven to be a factor; until we have same expectations for individuals regardless of race; and until we at least quit ignoring the decades long special treatment some races are given with govt programs, corporate outreach programs and hiring and firing affirmative action programs, and education admissions policies and scholarships including affirmative action and quotas if not our right ending them as they obviously either don't count or don't work nothing will change.

What is playing out now has played out over and over in my lifetime. From LA, to Charlottesville, Baltimore, Ferguson, and on and on. And every time it’s the same thing, a demand for “change”. But it’s obvious that people don’t want real change because very few are willing to have an honest discussion about the root problems that cause such racial strife in this country. As long as that’s the case, nothing will change. Until we can have an honest discussion on race, a discussion that doesn’t get shut down immediately over claims of “racism”, then nothing will change. It sucks, but it’s the cold hard truth. If you want real change, then we have to face some uncomfortable truths, both races, and there just are not that many on either side willing to do that.
Jesus, did you copy this shite off cnn?

More likely to get struck by lightning as a black
American than killed by a police officer.
Kill each other at record numbers
When it comes to aggravated assault, rape, and murder, a white American is many many many many many more times to be a victim to a black assailant than vise versa.
70 percent of black babies born out of wedlock.
There’s your truths. I’ll see myself out.

Racism isn’t the biggest issue. Police brutality is. Until police departments root out the psychos who are currently employed, the resistence to their heinous actions will keep strengthening.

The biggest problem is far right and far left. A moderate democrat or republican can see both sides and have those "honest discussions" that could lead to a common ground.
I attended grad school in NY, and for the first time in my life I lived and hung out with people with totally different views than mine. I always kept my opinions personal and private, but they would go off the deep end at times amongst each other. This was during the Bush administration. I never formally told them my affiliation, so they would try to bait me into discussing a current event topic. Finally after a year of living with my roommates they approached me on a view of a certain topic which was not polarizing. I told them three times that I did not want to talk about it, but they kept going in a supportive way to understand me. I finally gave my input and they all blew up teaming up on me with personal attacks, insulting my intelligence, etc. These people became my friends over time.
There is no respect for the opposite or alternative view. That is the problem.
