Getting rid of police unions would be a great start. They are half the problem.
Far leftists are now anti-union. I have seen it all.
Or is it only unions you don't like?

"If a cop kills someone, and it's not in self defense or in defense of someone else, charge him with murder" would be a good start.
Oh wait...
Oh wait...

This.

It's mostly this. The AFL-CIO building in Washington was tagged with "silence is complicity" the other day because they have refused to kick cop unions out.
Given the history between the labor movement and cops, I'm amazed that police unions joined the AFL-CIO.

Here’s mine
1) No white police officers in predominantly black areas
Or
2) No police officers in these areas at all. Let them fend for themselves for a while
- i also would place checkpoints and signs at demarcation zones stating that this is a “Policed area”. “Property, Life, and Upholding of Law Area”

-end qualified immunity as it is interpreted for police
-end police unions
-end no knock warrants
-end the drug war
-end civil asset forfeitures
-no for profit prisons
I’m sure some can add more.

one main problem is accepting the premise of police "brutality." law enforcement has countless interactions with people every day yet, less than 1000 are fatally shot per year. in 2018, 992 people were fatally shot nationally by leo. 451 were white. 229 were black.
multiple cities have enacted severe restrictions on how leo can operate, such as baltimore and nyc. that has led to leo basically ceding certain neighborhoods.
multiple da's have told police depts that they are not going to prosecute certain crimes under a certain dollar amount, such as $750 in dallas. that has led leo to not even bother responding to certain calls.
put all that together and leo across the country are exercising incredible restraint in dealing with issues they face every day. this is while they are being targeted and even ambushed. it's astonishing that people have allowed this narrative to even get off the ground

Did Chauvin do what he did to Floyd because he was black? I must have missed this being declared as the reason.

Maybe, maybe not. He mostly seemed conditioned to view humans in a pretty non human way. He also seemed to have no fear of consequences of a man dying under his knee. As did the “don’t do drugs” Asian cop who seemed to be saying they should let people die

1) End no-knock raids.
2) Move police liability insurance to the police budget and make it part of a package of funding.
3) Disincentive municipalities and counties to use ticket/court revenue as funding mechanisms.
4) State-level prosecutor to investigate and prosecute police use-of-force.
Good luck getting rid of the police unions first.

It is absolutely insane that one rogue officer made a terrible decision and they're ready to burn the country down over it. This is far from a regular occurrence in the days of cameras being everywhere.
you think this is about that?
you probably thought "Muh Covid" was about flattening the curve!

In no particular order
- People need to start taking accountability for their own actions. (i.e. you know if you're doing dirt, don't cry what you get caught and pretend you're the victim)
- LE needs to get out of the "we protect our own" mentality. If you're on duty and you see and fellow officer doing the wrong thing it needs to be called out and /or stopped right there. If any of the other 3 officers would have attempted to stop dickhead from kneeling on Floyd's neck this could have been a situation of the officer was in the wrong instead of the law enforcement system is in the wrong. And stop protecting officers that have multiple disciplinary write ups. (Especially for use of force write ups).
- Police chiefs need to be heal accountable for officers with multiple disciplinary write ups still working shifts with the public. (Starting with firing the Chief in Minneapolis.)
- The "Hands on" policies of every department in this country need to be seriously scrutinizes. No I'm not saying treat criminals with kid gloves. I'm saying take a deep look at "when" these methods are being used.
- LE has to come back down to Earth. "frick'em" is not a solution to this problem. I believe 80% of LE are trying to do the right thing every time they put on the uniform. They are being tarnished by the rest and are being held to the same accountability. At best most people see LEO's as someone they tolerate and try not to have to interact with. The image has to change whether or not the particular officer feel's like he/she has done anything wrong.
- As hard as it may be for some people. A fact of life is you are going to interact with LEO's. Especially if you are one of the ones that feel that laws are stupid and you should be allowed to live your life the way you want as long as "You feel" you are not hurting anyone else. 90% of the time you set the tone for these encounters. (Whether or not you can understand that.) If you choose to argue, curse out or otherwise fight with LEO's it's not going to go well for you.

It will take good cops arresting bad cops on the scene. Good cops need to quit toeing the thin blue line. The 3 others involved with Floyd should be charged. Each of them had over 8 minutes to do the right thing and save a life. Instead they chose to do nothing, they chose to be complicit.

I mean. It's another thread, but I honestly don't even comprehend the concept of a public sector union.
I have zero problems with private sector unions tbh.
I don't feel the same way about public sector unions. They get in the way of transparency in a major way.

Don’t break the law is the easiest way to avoid the cops.

get rid of qualified immunity for police, and state/local govt officials
get rid of no knock forced entries

I like these.
I would add - a serious effort to weed out the bad apples in the process of hiring/training. It can't be an accident that all the douchebag wannabe tough guys you went to school with went into law enforcement. I'm not saying all of law enforcement is made up of them (they're a distinct minority, but are shielded by the brotherhood), but the good cops/administrators need to boot these guys tf out before they're ever issued a badge.
