That's the biggest part of the problem: the LEO community has too many protections from consequences for their actions.

I’m sure they’d love the alternative of Martial Law and The National Guard enforcing mandatory curfews on a regular basis.

It's probably not even the cops not wanting to work, can you imagine the stress their families are putting on them to not act or quit? Who can take their family being unhappy to this degree about their occupation?

Put me on the same side as law and order. Legalize marijuana. Then we can talk about step #2. Until then, the police have been nothing but a cost center for me since I was 16 and got my first speeding ticket going 36 in a 35 mph zone. They have never protected or served me. I view cops as foes, not friends. That would 100% change if marijuana was legalized.

That's what we are trying to avoid. You DON'T want a fighting force trying to police a community, that isn't how they are trained and many citizens will die.

The older cops have great pensions. That has all been cut. The young ones get less than half of that.

I think where it's really gonna get good is after someone is raped, has a kit done and they use DNA to figure out who did it. I guess at that point they send the meditation squad to get the rapist in a good headspace and get them to just turn themselves in.
