My biggest concern with an electric truck has always been charging the battery. I mean if I tow my boat from Covington down to Venice or Cocodrie where the hell am I going to charge the battery while fishing?

You should be able to make that trip round trip without a recharge in the Rivian....if the 400 mile range is accurate (180 kWh.) Has an 11,000 towing capacity, too. It's a bad arse vehicle. Big fan of the company, their tech and their vehicles.

Yeah, that 400 mile range is probably a best case scenario. In Louisiana heat, AC going, towing a boat...lucky to get half the range.

Cyber Truck is ugly as sin. It makes the Aztek look like a Porsche 356. It's so ugly it wouldn't even make the cut as a vehicle in a video game. If I was getting an all electric truck it would be the Rivian all the way.

for real 600k of those are just people doing it to say they ordered one. when that 100k bill comes they will be no where to be found.

The charging infrastructure would have to be 20x what it is now before I'd ever consider an electric vehicle. Also, a truck presents another challenge with charging at home if it won't fit in my garage.

I figured COVID 19 would have finished Tesla off.

If it weren't built in China, I believe it would sell pretty well. It's perfect for light courier, and utility applications.

Yea, they are going to need more money than 100 bucks to qualify as a preorder in my book. When the price is due, 90 percent will back out.

...but does that matter? Elon basically did a $70 million kickstarter with a concept vehicle. Not many people can pull that off.

700,000 x $100 = $70,000,000

Probably best for 90% to back out. Even if only 10% go through with the order, Tesla will still have to produced 70,000 Cybertrucks.

What about hills? Traveling for work i could easily put 250 miles on a car, but I’d also have to climb 5000 ft.

Tesla has a regen function when coasting. Probably pick up more than it used going back down the hill.

But the 100 bucks is fully refundable so he didn't. Still good marketing campaign however and yea 70,000 ugly arse trucks is still a win if 10% order.

Anything that loads the motors is going to have them pulling more current. More current means more heat and these vehicles use some of the battery power to run the cooling system for the batteries. Just like with ICE vehicles.

Why do electric vehicles have to look ugly?

Research had proven part of the appeal of buying an electric vehicle is that people want it to look odd so they get the recognition it is an electric vehicle.

Does rivian have a good charging network yet? From my research tesla is still far and away superior, as are the charging times

No, that's a huge downside if your going to be traveling. However, I think there will be solutions to that in the near future. If your doing all or mostly local traveling or under 350ish miles 1 way, you're most likely fine.

First deliveries for the Tesla Semi were supposed to be 2019. They recently moved the date back to 2021 and few believe they will meet that mark.

Rivian looks like something a gay florist would drive.

Cybertruck looks like something Robocop would drive.

I'm going with Robocop on this one.
