In reality, Amazon does not pay a dime in taxes. Every bit of tax paid is paid for by consumers, it doesn't matter that Amazon writes the check, consumers pay for it with a mark up!

Those assholes (amazon included) have been using disproportionate lobbying power to very successfully tip the scales in their favor for the last 15 years. Everyone should check out the book Don’t Be Evil by Rama Foroohar (the title is a call back to the famous first words of google’s original code of conduct; one which they have since graciously betrayed).
These assholes deserve zero benefit of the doubt at this point. It’s well past time to rewrite the rules of the game to surrounding big-tech.
