So why are medical professionals wearing masks?

for the same reason that radiology techs wear lead aprons and you don't? (The tech may be better now but they used to wear them because they were exposed ALL THE TIME, you know, like a medical professional working with sick people ALL THE TIME.)

I grabbed a mask at the bookstore yesterday just so I would have one, never realized how fricking uncomfortable they are.

All of a sudden requiring masks everywhere after a few months of this just sounds stupid, like the "experts" are flailing.

The real question is who owns mask company stock?

CNN had a piece a little bit ago that highlighted a study at UCF and demonstrated how even with the mask cough vapors waft out to beyond 6 feet with plenty of virulence.

So I dunno. And I dunno the point that was attempted to be made. Perhaps lady was insinuating that we'll only be safe once the very last corona patient has recovered.

i didn't say symptomatic

i said infected

It is almost impossible for an asymptomatic person to spread a respiratory virus spread by droplets which this 100% is.

As more research is done we are discovering that this idea of asymptomatic is way overblown.

There are however hundreds of thousands of extremely mild cases where a person was symptomatic for a very brief time. But they did have some symptoms.

Again if someone has symptoms, they should be home not in the store with a mask.

The odds of being infected by someone without symptoms is unbelievably small, almost non-existent.

The exception would be a family member that spends hours and hours locked up with you.

Masks are complete bullshite especially as they are being used in the real world.

That aren't worn properly, handled properly, sanitized properly, or stored properly.

Wash hands and stop touching your face.

This is and always was enough to manage this outbreak.

Common sense tells you that a mask doesn't protect other parts of the body that germs from an infected person that have a sneezing or coughing fit where those germs might fall, like on your arm or unprotected parts of the face which you then might rub with your own hands and then wipe your mouth or nose before washing your hands.

it's not about protecting the wearer of the mask

Exactly.

All in all, people love bitching about others not wearing masks when in the end, it’s a futile desire that won’t ever get the results they want

So how do you explain Japan's success? They haven't gone on full lockdown and Toyko is FAR more dense than NYC and they also have an extensive subways system.

128 million and less than 400 deaths plus millions of Chinese tourist pre COVID and they still haven't shut down business travelers from China.

Medical professionals know how to wear them properly.

Fine, use that philosophy on a NYC subway and I'll use a mask and gloves.

I've yet to see any other explanation for Japan's success.

Yes, and that’s a serious problem.

These people have a zero risk attitude. They will keep everyone shut in their homes until very last patient has recovered (or died).

That’s not an option though, it’s an academic fantasy. But it’s what they’re doing.

And "common sense" tells you that viruses enter your body through mucus membranes and your nostrils and mouth are mucus membranes.

Geez...this isn't hard to figure out.

It seemed very clear in that way per the reporting. The damn lady even demonstrated that with the mask on and still coughing into the elbow....killer vapors.

And I was also immediately skeptical of the "hardware" used. It was a special dummy head with a hand pump used to push some sort of vapor visible with laser light. I figured they would touch on the calculable similarity between the dummy vapor and real human vapor, and same with the force coming from dummy compared with real human. The dummy may have been one to exaggerate a slight bit.

that makes sense why they insist we all must wear them everywhere now, got to pump up those numbers so they can demand massive fraud vote by mail

Exactly, I told some people that operating room people wear masks so they dont affect the sterile field... not because they will catch something from the patient.

So how much stock can you place in the advice of the CDC and the WHO, if they keep changing their recommendations?

They can’t figure this out yet they are the “experts” in charge of the lockdown destroying the country. God help us all.

Reason #1: In case people cough in our face. The general public does not have to get close enough to use a stethoscope on people that are sick in their day to day lives.

Reason #2: So we do not have to smell your nasty breath.

Reason #3: It is hospital policy.

Reason #4: We are trained how to wear them properly and that good stuff.

My primary wrote this

quote:

Public health people are somewhat like Park Service folks. A lot of Park Service folks think the best way to keep the parks pristine is to keep people out. Public health officials (think they) can defeat almost all respiratory diseases by keeping people at home forever. Neither the Park Service nor public health seem to have a grip on the real world.

Pet your dog. Go back to work.

This is what makes public health experts so dangerous.

They have this zero case mentality and they will always push for the most extreme solutions. They will not acknowledge the costs of their policies, and in that respect are irresponsible and reckless.
