LSU Gumbo with a very unfortunate design in 1933

ETA: since people can’t read apparently, I know that the symbol had been used for a long time before Hitler came to power.
There’s damn swastikas throughout the yearbook. Boy talk about poor timing on their part. My great-grandfather was a student at the time and the people that went with the design based it on the burial mounds. And I’m aware that it has been around forever. Still, pretty funny coincidence.

Are you trying to say LSU is/was a racist and/or fascist university???

That’s like an old symbol

How unfortunate. That's probably worse than weight loss drug in 1980's called Aids. They had ads on TV for it, just before the HIV came out.

LSU would have swastikas on the Gumbo today if they could get away with it.

The swastika symbol was used long before the Nazis adopted it

The swastika actually represented good luck in the 1930s. And then Hitler started being a dick

thought this said 1993 at first and i was very concerned
the swastika had a much different meaning pre-third reich, symbolizing good luck and prosperity, so i guess it follows

Meh, it pre-dates the Nazis by a long arse time and meant something like "good time/life" whatever.
Agree on the shitty timing though

Was David Duke a freshman that year or something?

Can't wait til people like you post pictures of people giving the OK sign and saying how racist they were.

You know NAZIs didn't create that design?
Posted on 4/24/20 at 11:22 pm to TigerFanInSouthland
This is worse than when I had my daughter in 2008 and named her Isis.

Typical confederate southern school. Absolutely disgusting

That’s actually pretty damn cool. I wish I had a Gumbo from 1933! My grandfather would’ve been 20 at the time but he didn’t go to college, he didn’t even finish the 7th grade.

and the people that went with the design based it on the burial mounds.
